And there we have it, the crux of the issue and why it went away is highlighted right there in the headline of The Age. Ordering Crispy to attend an “education program” is the AFL’s way of being seen to have done something and making it all go away without actually dealing with the problem. The stonking big elephant in the room that everyone is backing away from is the “without consent” part of it.

Also, lol at The Age scouring the picture file to dredge up an old photo of Crisp with a beard to make a link to the Snapchat images.

Good to see common sense prevail

Now how about they investigate Rhys Mathieson for being the one who seems to consistently leak all this s**t before Brisbane plays these clubs.
Yes, great to see common sense prevailing finally at AFl HQ, I knew it would happen eventually, only took 33 years.

Also great to see those idiots at Brisbane firing their best shot way too early. Hey morons, you should have saved that one for a big final not Round 4 you bozos!

Next time we crush these snakes, skin 'em and hang 'em permanent. Revenge is a dish best served cold and payback is always a bitch!! It's coming.....

💯 the real story is the crime of imaged based abuse. But the media are totally ignoring it because it sells papers & gets them clicks.

So what would you have the afl do?

Pissed off they made him apologize but I guess that is what is required to make the pearl clutchers go away.

Would have preferred a more robust response along the lines of "none of your business, and perhaps we could talk about the human garbage trying to use this to make hay inside and outside the media". But of course not.

Make a strong statement regarding image based abuse and the release without consent to bring to the forefront what has actually gone on here. Posting on social media or shopping around footage to media outlets for a price in order to create controversy and scandal is a real slippery slope, it’s not out of realms of possibility for a player to be blackmailed over this sort of stuff. Especially if it could result in a player being suspended, having a negative impact on game performance or on the club as a whole, or even impacting contract negotiations, etc.

Of course, it goes without saying that players shouldn’t be filming themselves or being in a compromising situation where they can videoed by someone else (hello Ginni & Jordy) but that’s a whole separate discussion.

Not sure that is within the AFL’s remit. The whole affair was a complete nothing from the get go.

The media spent all day trying to make this into a bigger story after the AFL finding.
All tv stations headlined the news with this story.
Shows you how pathetic they really are.
Until people start taking the media (and the people they pay to have their story/visuals) to task, this will continue to happen.
It's naive to just say "stay off social media". Like someone saying to you, "don't go to the footy''.
Everyone has the right to be on social media, like we are here on Big Footy.
It's what we choose to say or show that matters.
I don't need the media (or anyone else for that matter) to decide what does or doesn't offend me.

We need to shut up shop now and just concentrate on playing good footy. It’s going to be a tough few weeks but if we can hit the half way mark in reasonable shape, we’ll be a big chance to finish the H&A season off in top form.

If it’s within Collingwood’s remit to have an opinion on an indigenous voice to parliament, pretty sure the AFL could manage a statement in support of one of its players over distribution of intimate images without consent.

His comments were not illegal, just completely cringe-worthy. I’m sure he and his wife are mortified. I feel very sorry for Mikayla, and for their kids, who are probably living in a very stressed household at the moment. And for what benefit to anyone?

The most annoying part of it in my opinion is the picture of the cocaine, which has brought all of the ‘drug culture at Collingwood’ rubbish back out.

I can’t imagine he gets in any trouble for this. The club may make him do some sessions with the psychologist or something to show that they’re ‘doing something’.
Great Chance be a Drug Culture in the AFL could say about ALL OF Society

Has the AFLPA spoken up ?

It’s bad business for the AFL to deal with this stuff so passively. Why always be on the back foot, having to justify players’ actions and issue punishments, when it’s a clear violation of privacy and an example of behaviour amongst consenting adults. The recipient of the message, whomever sent it, has not complained…

… so why does the AFL put up with damage to their brand, and by extension, their relationship with sponsors by being so utterly limp on the matter?

So give Players who do this a 1 Season Ban?

Do they even exist or are they a figment of Patty Dangerfield’s imagination?

It has been a CV padder for Dangerfield

(As much as Selwood could annoy me on the field, he looks like a top bloke off it and does great community work)
