How high is this guy's ceiling? He just keeps improving, and Bucks' comments in the presser were pretty telling, I thought.

Has now shown he's capable of high 20-30 possession games against good opposition, and is leading or nearly leading club in a number of key stat categories.

Just needs to start nailing gettable set shots and maybe using his height a bit better in marking contests to pretty much be an A grade player.

Thank you Brisbane for not giving us Aish, so very generous to offload your best young midfielder, pick 5 and 25 as well.

Cue ROFL copter / face palm statue pic
.

Bucks said all that?

In that case, what an irrelevant post that was. Not even funny. You're better than that.

Suitably admonished... I'll take that on board....

Crispy is 21, is he? Just amazing.

I think even Hine, Bucks and everyone else at our club would be shocked at what we are getting out of Crispy.

Funny listening to Bucks presser. I think it was the recent post match one v West Coast.

They must have asked about Crispo (couldn't hear the journo that well) and Bucks basically said " we had a couple of players in mind " (I believe to complete the deal on top of picks 5 & 25) and we're happy Crispo has come on board.

Sounded like we had Crispo on our radar all along, but thought we could get their 1st 2 draft picks as well. Certainly we would have obtained pick 5, but to get both Crispo & pick 25, was well worth that agonising weekend, where the large majority of our supporters went nuts, thinking we caved for accepting Crispo as the deal clincher.

Yep and that's why even now I rate Crisp above Beams. As good as Beams was and still is, he only runs one way..
Love what Crisp has done but he is a long way off Beams. Forget using stats as a means of comparison.

Beams is in the top few mids in the comp and can break games open in a way Crisp could only dream of doing.

Yeah but look at the age gap. Crispy is at the beginning of his career yet he is doing things that Beams has never done in his career.

Could you say the same thing about Beams when he was 21 though? From memory at the same age, Beams had a very similar influence on games to Crisp. Averaging slightly more disposals, and more goals, although Beams played a lot more forward than Crisp, with Crisp averaging 1 more clearance per game and nearly 2 more tackles per game.

Crisp may currently dream of breaking games open like Beams, but on his current trajectory, he could well be doing that by the time he gets to Beams age.

Yeah he looks to have much greater potential than we would have believed. To reach Beams he has to realise that. Many are called few are chosen when it comes to elite talent. Love it if Crisp gets there

I'm a firm believer that in 2-3 years Brisbane supporters will look upon the Beams trade as the club throwing away their future on a single player. Beams is a jet, but to trade away a top 5 pick, second rounder and a player that may well end up almost the equal of Beams himself would cut deep.
Coincidentally, the posters on the Bears board consistently pot DeGoey as being terrible to make themselves feel better. It's quite amusing.

Does Beams really break open games the way people are talking?I can't remember him doing that very often when he played for us,and he certainly doesn't seem to be doing that for the Lions either. He was a good accumulator of the ball, but does he really hurt the other team when it really matters?

Yeah. I think you will find that there are many occasions where he kicked goals at crucial times. He is a gun, no doubt about it however with the way Crisp is playing, we are not missing him as much as I thought we would have.

Lets be realistic and not rewrite history. We did cave in but either through good fortune or good management this young bloke has done very well.

If it was through good management as you've suggested, we caved only in supporters eyes.

For all we know, he was a Hine target from the get go, but we held his name back initially as one of the players we were after. I didn't follow Crispo while he was at the Lions, so I wouldn't know. There's little doubt Hine would have been following him.

I thought pick 5 & 25 was a far enough deal anyway.

I think this is right, Hine knew what he was doing. I'd never heard of Crisp before his name was thrown up in the deal - not that I have a clue about fringe players at other clubs. But he was definitely on the radar. Thats why Hine and his team get the big dollars - to know this stuff about other clubs' lists.
