Love this ❤️

McRae has invited Sam Stynes, the widow of the late great Jim Stynes, to address the playing group ahead of a game where Jack Crisp breaks the Irishman’s long-standing record of 244 consecutive games, in a week where Collingwood and the game has recognised a stunning achievement from the two-time best and fairest winner.

“I was lucky enough to chat to Sam Stynes last night and we are going to get Sam in to celebrate Jim and show the incredible longevity of his career but also what he did for so many in the game,” he said.

“Then show some footage of Jim and get Sam to take us into his world. Then we will celebrate Jack. It’s a massive achievement to be able to play that many games in a row.”
Fly is just one superb human being - make a great Prime Minister but he's better value at the Pies

Here’s a pic from the season that Jack Crisp started his record …
  • Steele Sidebottom looked 20 years younger
  • Dane Swan was still playing
  • Jarryd Witts was still playing for Collingwood

He didn't play in an era of clubs being extra cautious of players
Good call.
Sam Stynes mentioned it in the video with Jack, (I’m guessing concussion).
She also praised Jack for achieving it with a young family, (Jack sees as a positive).

I remember watching Crispy play against the Pies at the G towards the end of the 2014 season.
I remember he had a fair bit of the ball in that game, which we got smashed by 10 goals in the end, despite Brisbane coming over with a bunch of young, no name players, and we were clear favourites.
Crispy played an excellent game that night, he had a few mates, but l definitely remembered Crispy's game, so when he came over as part of the Beams deal that years trade period, despite being the "steak knives", l thought we had picked up a very good player.
What a champion he has turned out to be, and absolutely love being able to watch his career all the way through.
To think that since he's been at the Pies, he's ranked the 17th best player in the whole competition over the last decade, and the 2nd highest ranked Pies player over the same period, is staggering
Absolute legend, has been and will continue to be such an important player for us, and since he's arrived he has obviously made the team and the club so much better.
Can't wait to watch him run out on Saturday night and break the consecutive games record. He will be celebrated as a champion and legend of our club should be... .👏🖤🤍⚫⚪☝️

His long striding runs out be it out of the backline, through the midfield (or both) are a thing of beauty.
When he finishes it off with a goal it’s fantastic.
Impressively, over time he has improved his right foot kicking to a point where it is very reliable.
(A bit like the player he’s ranked behind at out Club 😉).
PS: His two goals in our Premiership were also “things of beauty”.

Callum Wilkie is 105 behind. He has played 139 without missing since his first game.

Wilkie is remarkable

Since Rd 11 2021, Wilke has played 87 consecutive games.

But of those games, he has been on the ground 100% of the time for 72 of those games. Of the others, his lowest time on ground is 89%.

Love it when he tucks it under his arm and fends off a flailing tackler.

Even having the motivation to get out of bed to play for the Saints is remarkable.

Does Crisp take a quick look at the people behind him in the streak and line them up each time the pies play their team  :D

It’s funny how there’s been lots of mentions about times he’s nearly missed a match through injury or illness, when in reality I think we all know the closest call for him missing match was that incident early in 2023 👀. Almost laughable that’s potentially the closest he’s been to missing.

Crisp said on tv a few games back that he has had hammy and calf niggles but got up to play. pretty rare to get through any niggles like this.

Just remembering when he was sub. Couldn’t remember what game. Was round 3 last year against Brisbane when we got our first win.

His first 3 games weren’t great but I wonder if he was sub being managed in terms of minutes, for some sort of injury instead.

I’ve not watched much media on him this week. Has he mentioned anything more on that?
