Just hope he returns to the club as a fully fledged Eagles supporter with some fondness for Norf when his career is over, with his kids as future father-son/daughter prospects.A bloody good career for an undersize key forward with an even shorter reach than his overall height suggests. Strong as an ox, still holds a champion data record and for a short period of time was the best player in the game.
Hold no grudges against him for extending his career by a couple of years on bigger money.
Good on JD and nice touch from North. Footy at its best
Gaffy chairing JD off.
Also presented his jumper pre-game.
The irony of gaff speaking in the kangas rooms was not lost on me
Think the pre draft rumours were exactly thatDidn’t quite realise what a great team man he was. Knew he was a very good player but the pre draft rumours, the Covid stuff etc all incorrectly skewed my views on him.
I was keen to get him in the 2023 trade period, but didn’t quite appreciate what he’d bring to a forward line begging for a genuine second key tall.
Crazy to think if Simmo wasn't replaced by Schoey last year, JD would have farewelled the Eagles after 300 games since Simmo would never have dropped him.
Would've been nice if he had played his 300th in blue & gold.
I guess tbf he might've been dropped more often under another coach.
He was dropped by Schoey for 2 games last year. If Simmo was this still coach, it wouldn't have happened. If he was still on the list he would have played game 299 vs Brisbane.
Trade was the right move for all parties given the relative areas of strength for each club. If a near 300 game player has the opportunity to extend his career by a year or two and play regular footy you shouldn't hold him just to be a back up.

He left the club on 298 games, had he not been dropped for those 3 games, he would have played his 300th last season.
Wilson and Cummings stiff to miss out, IMO.Yes I am aware. If Simpson was still coach we would've picked Allen, Waterman, Darling, Jack Williams, Archer Reid, Josh Kennedy and Peter Sumich in Rd 1.
If only they were playing the DlockersThe irony of gaff speaking in the kangas rooms was not lost on me
It was a good rehearsal for when we honour Luke Parker in a few rounds.Awkward for North to honour a guy that played 298/300 games for another club.

Never thought I’d love Jack Darling.Didn’t quite realise what a great team man he was. Knew he was a very good player but the pre draft rumours, the Covid stuff etc all incorrectly skewed my views on him.
