I think Floss may win it by 1-2 votes...
He may poll where it was unexpected...
I’m in the Vlossy camp too.. he had some ripper’s throughout the season but was very consistent. I don’t recall him having a bad game TBH.

Best speech I’ve hear O’rorke do.
Very happy he mentioned Broady. ✅ ✅

Great speech, very honest and direct
Also glad he mentioned Broad
Haven’t heard the speech but is it true he criticised the leaving players for a lack of loyalty (implied if not direct stated)?

If so it was a very classless, not to mention an incredibly damaging and stupid thing to do because in trade negotiations it is vital that the players being held to their contracts and continue to play for the club is a real possibility. Comments such as are being reported effectively undermine our position at the trade table.

And that is not even taking into account that the players being criticised are and will always be legends of the club.

No is it taking into account that them leaving is likely the thing that sets us up for a successful future.

If the reported comments are true the bloke is a clown and we need to go to the preseason draft for a new president.

He mainly praised Broad's loyalty

Mate watch it for yourself before making comment.

His speech was great didn’t say names went in a circle a bit on purpose, but everyone knew what it was about. About time the club changed the narrative from saying we're happy to get players to other clubs.
I don’t get this

Criticising players who decide to leave comes from the Tex Walker school of leadership IMO

Plus as I said it active undermines our negotiating position

And would seriously undermine morale and team unity if a deal/s can’t be done and one or more of them have to stay at Richmond

I’ve been and watched it now, and he said exactly what it was being reported that he’d said, so I’m not 100% why you thought that I needed sit through personally before commenting.

But anyway, I don’t disagree with the fact that Broad is a good and loyal servant of the club.

But singling Broad out for praise for ignoring more lucrative offers from other clubs can’t be seen as anything other than a veiled criticism of the the players who have chosen to leave, and including in the speech showed very poor judgement by O’Rouke for reasons I’ve outlined above.

Now, you can engage with the points I’ve raised, or you can tell me to go and watch another video if you’ve got nothing of substance to add to the conversation.

The Prez is not a dickhead he knew exactly what he was doing

More of a shot at the FD to start sorting it out IMO

I get this

But he almost certainly was using that praise for Broad as a criticism of the four players who are leaving

At the very minimum he should have known that was exactly how it would be interpreted
To some on here the club can do no wrong , yet here we are

To some on here the club can do no wrong , yet here we are

On the contrary there are plenty here that say the club can do no right so here we are
I’m not either but I think we’ve been pretty well run and professional over the fast few years, especially compared to some of the other clubs (Adelaide, Essendon etc.) . . .

. . . but this self-indulgent blunder by the new president is a very worrying sign for the future, and not many seem concerned by it.

Some see it as a blunder some see it as a line in the sand moment. I liked it. Loyalty runs both ways.

I can respect an opposing point of view

But loyalty is a bit of a funny concept in today’s fully professional sport, like, it’s a bit of a flexible concept

We were all happy when we were in our window and Dusty turned down rival offers to stay hand help drive us to premierships

Now we are rebuilding some of players leaving and the picks we get for them may actually be beneficial to our rebuild, so what are we drawing a line in the sand about?

Delidio left and got us pick 19 or something and most of us were happy about that (and Delidio led to Caddy, led to Prestia and Lynch, led to premierships)

Assistant coaches leave and we’re like “thanks for your service” (in the same speech no less)

Now some premiership players are leaving and it’s “you’ve stabbed us in the back, let’s disrespect you on presentation night”

We delist players, end players careers, move players on if they don’t suit our needs – is there any two way loyalty in that? No, it’s just what professional football clubs do

Neither the players nor the club can expect true “loyalty” in a fully professional environment, but what people can expect is professionalism and things being done “in the right way” (not what happened in that speech)
