His a lot quicker than you think. I recall a time where he almost chased down Matt Campbell on a wing.

But if you're trying to argue the block is quicker than Fitzpatrick, a block noted for having excellent speed for his size, then you're on the wrong track. Lighter, yes. Slower.... absolutely not.

No point arguing about such a mute point, but regardless, Fitzy simply isn't going to make it. Perhaps Fitzy simply cannot, at the present time 'get-up' for an AFL game. There could always be the chance his condition is still trying to be controlled to perhaps a more effective level.

He announced the squad of 25 with Davis in it instead of Fitzpatrick.

  • No VFL this week.
  • If he was naming Sellar in defence, he should have named Fitzpatrick over Davis.
  • Being a Sunday game, Dixon's absence from Thursday's line up should have been enough to allow Neeld to make a call over the course of the day.
  • Neeld bizarrely claimed that Jack isn't ready for senior football the other day, and still thinks it.

Thanks for your insight, captain.

If he said this, it's more than likely to be the recovery process. Having Diabetes, it's harder to recover, harder to manage weight etc, I'd say this is probably the reason.

It would be nice for the Melbourne Football Club to effectively communicate with their supporters. Board and coach both fail to clarify things that should be known. They'd ease a lot of pressure if they did.

Based on the experiences I've had with the club, 'communication' is most certainly not there forte

Mute point it may be, doesn't change the fact you were wrong by a large margin.

All fair points, although with the second one - watch Sellar line up in the goal square for the first bounce on the weekend just to mess with your head. ;)

Sellar isn't going to play defence, I'm certain of it.

He won't play much offence either if the first three rounds are anything to go by.

If Clark was in the team, Sellar would be playing a roving stepladder role. He's not though, and Howe doesn't need one. So... nice guy?

Clark, Dawes are FF and CHF.

Means that 2 of Gawn, Spencer, Jamar, Fitzpatrick, Sellar and Pedersen must play.

Gawn and Fitz should get a crack, IMO.

Sellar and Pedersen have shown very little. I didn't mind Pedo at North but it's been an underwhelming start here.

Not sure why all the Jamar hate. He's not a tall guy, he was a late developer and he's a very solid boy with a few injuries behind him - was always going to slow down in the late 20s. Still our best ruckman while Gawn develops, so if he's not in and we're nursing Gawn through the early period, Spencer is all we've got in the locker.

People were bashing Warnock the other week, but I was a bit disappointed we didn't pick him up when he left Freo. He's not the best ruck going around but he's not the worst either. Better off trading for rucks - seems to turn out fine for the Swans, Hawks, Pies, etc.

Anyway, I've wandered off point. My two cents: pick 2 of Gawn, Spencer and Fitzpatrick (with Jamar injured) and get on with it.

Jamar must play as well. Comparing Jamar's and Gawn's ruckwork this year, Jamar is still a class way above Gawn. Gawn is ok at giving him a chop out and playing up forward but I don't think he is ready for the number 1 ruck role and Fitzy seems to be playing more up forward and wouldn't be ready for the number 1 ruck role either. It will also be interesting to see where Watts plays when he comes back probably next week, played his best footy this year when he went forward against Brisbane.

I'm bored of this. We'll have to agree to disagree.

But Sellar wasn't picked to bully GWS, so your argument there is not exactly water tight.

No - but we had Clark, Pedersen and Gawn up forward against GWS.

If we were ever going to give him a shot it'd be now with Clark out. I think we all know exactly what Sellar brings to the table, and it's not much. Fitzpatrick hasn't been tried properly yet.
