Am hopefull that Jack can keep progressing and possibly kick some bags in the 2's. Adding to his problems is the fact that Scott Simpson is another Key Forward drafted by the Scorpions after being delisted by Geelong. I think Jack will play predominantly 2's this year with a large amount of time in the ruck unfortunately. If Miller/ Juice/ Hughes all go this year and with Watts hopefully an automatic best 22 player next year, the Fitz i hope will be able to show what he has next year will definitily get another year.

You can add Hughes to that list aswell, this was I was trying to get at last year with Zomer, His development was restricted because of list cloggers... Mind you I now except that I have to move on & embrace the future... But if the club is not mindful of this (and don't play Jack in Scorpion 1sts at the expense of Newton or Miller) it will do damage to his future career...

Perhaps he was a list clogger?

Good to hear from you Wattsy, you may be right, but we will never know, I just hope there is attention paid to the young blokes & their development at the expense of guys who are not our future....
I go along with that too, good point DR.

Jack Fitzpatrick will be Melbournes first 100 goal a season Full Forward

Gawn was recruited as a Ruckman not Fitzpatrick

I was impressed with this, Jack seems to me to have his head screwed on right. I get the impression he is diligently working his way through his first year, despite some signifcant injury set-backs. Able to give lengthy, meaningful answers as well, not just the usual cliches.
Ability rules, but a brain is not going to hinder you, I hope he can progress his career, I think he's got a good understanding of where he's at.

He does seem like a mature young fella.

The bit that really interested me was:

There are differing views about where you will play long-term. Some believe you are a key forward, others a ruckman or a combination of both. Where do you think you’re best suited long-term?

JF:
I’m happy just to be playing footy. It honestly doesn’t worry me. I think my best footy is as a deep forward, but having said that, if I’m playing as a ruckman, I’m happy to do that. If I have to go down back as a key defender as well, I’ll do that. Where I contribute best is a deep forward.

If he develops to his full potential (and I know he has issues with his kicking), maybe, just maybe, he could become the big KPF we need. Fingers crossed!

Good to see he lost the ridiculous pre-season locks at some stage.
