Win win for Lions and Hawks in respect to compo picks they have already/wouldn't have got with Amon.

I don't think Hawthorn win at all here. 2 goal a game forward for a 3rd round pick.

It's better than the alternative which would have been nothing of course, but still wouldn't call it a win.

Happy for Jack though and I'd never want the club to stand in the way of a Premiership champion. Owes us absolutely nothing. Definitely a big win for Brisbane. Gunners is a finals specialist.

I don't think most clubs including the Hawks & Lions look at being winners or loses in trades that involve unrestricted free agents
If the player has given good service and wishes to find new opportunities the club in most cases will try to accommodate them
In the end i don't think the Hawks will ask for much
Would not surprise me if it is in the 70's. Gunston is obviously worth more

Both clubs get to keep compensation picks and move on
Hawks free up cap space for Amon
Lions get a 31 year old good player who appears over his back issues from 2021 to replace McStay
McStay leaving Lions frees up cap space to pay for Gunston

We have cap space coming out of our ears. Gunston has absolutely no bearing on Amon.

It's why we are desperately trying to get Bowes over and paying his full two years upfront to meet our minimum spend.

We will get likely a third round pick but it is by no means a win for Hawthorn.

I did not say you are short on cap space
It just helps to pay for Amon

That then gives you plenty to go after Bowes or anyone else if that is the clubs intention
And as i mentioned why do the Hawks or Lions have to have a win for this trade to go ahead
If our club gives up a 3rd rounder thats fine with me. I just think it may end up being a later pick.

In 2016 Sam Mitchell just won his 5th B & F for Hawks and requested a trade to Eagles for a net of 44 points or pick 69

I don't think there has to be a winner or loser.

Just pointing out to a previous poster who considers this to be a win for all parties. It's a win for two. Gunston and Brisbane.

I don't think any Hawthorn supporter is going to be aggrieved by this fact. It is simply what it is.

Good get for the Lions and cheap.

Hawks took unders IMO.

Well the alternative was nothing and to spite Brisbane out of their McStay pick.

We've done so many favours for Brisbane would be nice for something to come back in the future.

Yeah it sucks when you the run the risk of getting nothing.

I would of liked him at Carlton as a medium sized option next to H and Charlie as Jack is still very handy and a good set shot.

Good that the Lions has completed this trade Tuesday
Hawks and their supporters most likely wanted more than 48 (302 points)
On the other hand Lions wanted to try and retain as many points as possible

With GWS moving yesterday to get pick 1 the Lions may think GWS don't bid on Ashcroft
If that happens Lions save a minimun of 483 points

Gunston to follow Smith and win a premiership and Norm Smith in the next couple of years? Hawks love handing out gun players with years of top quality football left for peanuts.

They've helped us win three flag they owe us nothing.

Best of luck to Gunners.

And a rule that Joey and Hipwood are not allowed to lead where Jack leads.
The funny thing is that Daniher was actually more accurate than Gunston this season. It has been a while since Gunston has been a great kick for goal
