Saw Wright played against Hawthorn today booted three against Hawthorn. But I want to know if you think Gunston is better than him and will he always be better than him?

Both can play as that 3rd tall forward & go up the ground

So who do ya think?

Gunners!

Wright is a half forward/half back. Not really a 3rd tall type.

Not sure who I'd take. Wright imo is more consistent but Gunston's best is better from what I've seen.

He played as a Half-Forward last weekend & that's what Gunston can play as,

Wright was the only shining light for North in that game apart from Wells. The kid can play.

However, going on what I've seen, I'd have to say Gunston. My vote is hardly fair seeing as I've seen a lot of Gunston at Box Hill and a bit at Hawthorn, and hardly ever seeing Wright. Gunston has a lot of potential. I'd love to see him in the side soon.

Wright is really more of a Lecras or SJ when he plays forward. He isn't a really a 'third tall' unless the only qualification is taking contested marks.

I'm normally willing to let some 'opinions' through to the keeper on the polls board, but the OP is completely wrong on this one. Wright is better on exposed form, is more versatile, has better skills and better vision. His numbers are better particularly for someone who hasn't been allowed to settle in any position for more than a few weeks in his career so far. It's his dual sided disposal which makes him most dangerous in any part of the ground.

I'd be very disappointed if North traded out Wright to get Gunston.

Hawks supporters were very upbeat about drafting Gunston, thus far I have seen nothing to suggest that he is going to be anything special.

The kid's just 20 years old and has played four games for the club, don't think its fair to dismiss him like that. Was solid when he was at Adelaide when he was getting regular games, give him some time

Spot on.

The kid is still learing the game but can take a decent grab and is a very good kick for goal.

Gunston has shown more for Adelaide than he has for Hawthorn, but I think the kid has a huge future. Sam Wright has shown more at this stage of their respective careers, and looks a player, but I'll stick with Gunston as I think he can develop into a genuine 2nd tall option once he bulks up

Wright has a defensive side to his game in that he can shut guys down that Gunston lacks. Gunston talented but gets a fairly easy ride in a very, very good side. Wright is being asked to do stand up jobs (tag Goddard and the like) in a side still establishing itself and does them A grade.

That said, I would have been very happy had North got Gunston last year.

Haven't seen enough of Gunston to vote on poll but what I have seen he has the goods.

I also rate Wright. He can go forward and kick 4 easily but he can also play a shut down role extremely well. That is going to be a very handy thing as our midfield matures and we can use him where needed.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to admit that I was wrong... GUN-ston

Kid is good. But far easier to play a role in an established successful side like Hawthorn.

True.

Can't comment on Wright as I have not seen him play much.

Gunston has a great oppurtunity to develop his game as that second or third tall behind the Buddy and Rough/Hale show which takes most of the heat.

Had a quiet start to the year because of a groin injury but since coming back has done really well. Once he gains more bulk/strength and stamina he will be quite a decent player. Seems to have the footy smarts and Skills to be a very good forward in years to come.

Yeah, he will certainly be a very good player, no doubt about that.

Surely nobody (other than Old Skool who'd probably vote for Matt Campbell over Gary Ablett Jnr) would still vote Wright?

The Comparison is still ridiculous as Sam Wright has spent the entire year bar 2 games down back

Both Players have played their role exceptionally, and I guess it's whether you want a player to Shut Down a HFF (notable examples have been giving Goddard and Stevie J their worst game of the season) and provide good rebound or kick 2-4 goals a match while getting the ball and using it well

Looks like a great prospect Gunston and shows a lot of poise for such a young fella.

Fantastic technique on the set shot kicking as well & he was very impressive tonight.

Dunno why he's been compared to a swingman though.

Its a poor comparsen because even though both players are young and play certain roles, they couldn't be more different. Gunston is an absolute gem.

It's especially strange because Sammy's not really been pumped up by North fans on BF, despite our reputation. He's just been quietly going about his role in defence and has been a great decision maker and user all year.

Indeed.

Another no fuss game from Wrighty today snagging a cool 32 possies and a bog in North's most important win for years.

Coming along very nicely and will be a great player for us 4 years to come.
