Played well again tonight.

His parents are as proud as punch. Let's hope young Oliver slips through as well. An even better footballer.

What position does Oliver play? He's not a ruckman by any chance?
All I was told is 'more of a natural footballer and better than jack.'

Anyone know the story on the painting in the background.. looks like Wade with a crown on?

Good to hear Jack is versatile and can go forward...
The painting is of Doug Wade.
It was painted by Newtown artist Lisa Wang for entry in the 2017 Archibald Prize.
He's sitting on an apple in the goal square, a reference to the 1970 shot at goal v S Melbourne when the ball was hit by a thrown apple core.
I don't know what the golf club and cricket bat are all about.
This was all in an Advertiser article of 24/6/17, which I cannot access any more, but the image of the article including the artist with the painting and the above info can be found in Google Images.
She was apparently commissioned by the club in 2000 to do 18 paintings for the 150th anniversary of the club; one assumes that they are scattered around the clubrooms somewhere, also.

Henry again last night 1 on 1 and in group situations did really well.

Game 6 is it? Kid can play and will get better.

Remarkable how well he's doing for a rookie pick. With HT long term future becoming more questionable by the week it seems like his development is even more necessary. Will take him years still but with a better tank and size I have high hopes for him.

Reads the play so well too.

Its amazing that we have now played all the 2016 rookies... but Jumping Jack may be the pick...and what one sees is player that really should have been drafted.

To play afl you really do have to have a trick on your tool belt to separate you from so many good ordinary footballers. Better footballers with no tool belt are the type you see and wonder..why they never made the grade , but on the rare occasion they get a go , more often than not they seem what they are...trickless. This to me explains the tendency of the rd to look at other sports and especially why athletes like Blitz and Jack get a go.

However what we are seeing is not Stanley like creature..all genetics and fast twitch with no semblance football nous... we are seeing a kid who reads it so well..who knows when to go , when to mark when to spoil , and when to run like a hare to make a goal saving touch. He is almost the perfect size for a modern defender and is at the perfect place to go to school in... Enright and Scarlett. Of course there is stuff for him to work on. He is lacking length on his kick for one...but give him time...a classic example of why a willingness to play kids can quite often deliver a win for the recruitment dept. For eg. Would Hamling be at Geelong if we were willing to play him?

Many thought we had sold our future with Danger , Henderson and 2e deals. I think as I said the time..it put extra stress to find gun players with later picks.. Could we in this modern era again find players with later picks to support the deals.. Its appears we have . Stewart is on the way to AA and JH is every bit as good as raw lever type player imo.

Any chance on him actually winning the rising star? Maybe I am missing someone but can’t think of an absolute stand out this year so far - seems reasonably even.

Watching Dale Morris play for the Dogs... I was wondering who would have played the most games for us in the 38 jumper? Maybe ..just like Ling , Henry can make this number his? (Of course he may get offered a lower number give 38 the boot too)
Probably got Peter Zychla covered.

Austin McCrabb club house leader at 35 games.

I disagree - I think the fact that he is 21, and Stephenson is 19, will count against him reasonably significantly. They do tend to count age as a factor, and rightly so IMO.

So he qualifies but we will discount his performance ? Isn't that the issue that Simmons has had some people noses out of joint over in the nba?

Perhaps they should change the rules then. ...

5: Tom Doedee
4: Jaidyn Stephenson
3: Alex Witherdon
2: Jack Henry
1: Oliver Florent

That's how I'd have it, Ed Richards next best.
Adam Cerra ? - will be the best of all of them. Already has, uniquely for a first year player, in one game a max 10 coaches votes. Unheard of. He is like Shane Crawford/Pendlebury clone.

Freo people are drooling ... but there is a feeling by some that he may be having come home thoughts...
