maybe..McGovern, pick 8 and the carlton 2nd rounder from the gibbs deal for Pick 1 and the Adelaide 2nd rounder from the gibbs deal?

That's better but surely Lukosius or Rankine s value are greater than McGovern, Pick 8 and upgarde of 2nd rounders?
don't the Crows have another late 1st rounder luying around? throw that in and were cooking with gas.

On what planet is a player (either Lukocious or Rankine) that’s never even played one single game of top level AFL footy worth Mitch McGovern and pick 8 and another first rounder?..

It’s absolute madness to even be suggesting it.. why don’t you ask for Adelaide to throw in the crouch brothers too while you’re at it!..

These threads have officially reached peak stupid.

Where has the rumor of Suns wanting both Kings come from?

Is more just BF posters not really wanting a tall that is going to take 5 years to come on and therefore dumping them on the Suns

They’re brothers so that somehow = no go home factor. I don’t understand it either, they might need one but certainly not both. Unless Lukosius slips through, the Suns would surely take any 2 of Walsh/Smith/Rankine. They don’t need talls anywhere near as much as midfielders.

On what planet were Carlton and Adelaide Bf posters ever going to reach common ground on a trade proposal for a draft pick? Won't happen.

Depends who leaves. Ainsworth, Brodie, Miller, Lemmens, Fiorini, Bowes, Martin and Powell have enough talent to say they’ll be pretty decent should they hold onto the bulk of them. Lose Day and Lynch and they’ll be razor thin on key positions (Thompson, Day, Crossley, Leslie and Wright) and a few of them aren’t up to it or injury prone.

King x 2 and then the rest of the draft on mids and small forwards wouldn’t be the worst idea.

with the 12 people who voted other, where do you think he will go other than those 3 teams?

Anything can happen during trade week. I'm sure Carlton would be willing to trade pick 1 if they get an offer enticing enough. Could end up anywhere.
he could even fall to Brisbane honestly. Carlton may go for walsh for midfield depth and GCS could use the King brothers with their pick + compo pick

anyone who picks up Luko is very lucky, im sure he will be something in this league. Yes you can compare him to Watts and McCartin but Luko isnt as built as them so he does not use his size to an advantage

With player movement becoming more fluid and the AFL themselves making noises that they intend to make it far easier for players to move in the near future... you’d have to think that there wouldnt be too many interstate teams paying the ridiculous high price Carlton wants for pick 1 (jack).. far too great a risk...

Imagine giving up a player and two high picks for pick 1 in this loaded draft to bring Lukosious to your non-SA club only to have him 2-3 years later turn around and say “homesick.. sorry.. can i please be traded home”.. you wouldnt get what you originally paid back.

Brisbane could finish below the Suns too

Flip of the coin if he is the next watts or reiwoldt. Well worth using number 1 pick on

Won't happen. Why would we go out of our way to give up pick one to get once in generation player to get McGovern when we got plenty of tall forwards more exciting already ? Off with the fairies.

You massively underrate the risk behind pick one. Riewoldt and Hodge are the only examples of it being used perfectly this century, and there have been 16 drafts since where a club objectively missed out on a handful of clearly better players. Goddard, Cooney, Deledio, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Watts, Scully, Swallow, Patton, Whitfield, Boyd, McCartin, Weitering, McGrath, Rayner. Perhaps we leave out the last two because they're still teenagers, but how many of those guys scream 'once in a generation'? Whoever drafts Lukosius will be hoping for a Curnow type, and he was taken at 13. Carlton and Melbourne both overlooked him in favour of Weitering and McKay, both of whom may struggle to have a long career. Aside from Curnow, there's not a single Carlton forward who is better or more exciting than McGovern - who could also go back and be an elite intercept marker. I've probably underloaded the proposed deal though, if Adelaide can work their way towards a pick in the 4-6 range then it'd be more fair.

You're saying Watts used his size to bully underaged defenders? He was a twig. Perhaps you mean Patton or Boyd?

Gibbs had 'generational' hype around him. Weitering & Boyd too. The rest were run-of-the-mill.

You missed the point being fixated on pick 1.
My point was there is no way we downgrading from pick 1 to 8 in the draft for what you proposed. Pick 1 to 3 would give food for thought but 8 in this draft considering how highly the top few rated would be nuts.

Weitering still only 20, I've been reading your posts about Carlton across a couple of threads, better do some homework.

I can also compare him to Westhoff.

If we ended up picking JL then im more than confident in keeping him. Its one of the things we have done well and kept all players we really wanted to keep.
JL is the Test coach. The sly bugger is an Eagles supporter too. Would never help us out as a consultant. Gilly however is a good Carlton man. Eagles tried to ask him to be no 1 ticker holder. He told them to GGF.:p
