100% agree. He just isn’t a reliable forward. Even just as a hb on a mid size forward.
He should take all kick ins as well.
As you say could also play wing giving far more than Wehr.

I wonder if there’s been too much of a focus on Lukosius playing to his strengths rather than working on his deficiencies early in his career. I’d like to see a focus on him developing his contested marking, repeat leading and defensive efforts.

It would be nice to have the luxury to send him to the SANFL to solely work on that but I don’t think we can at the moment.

He’s never going to be a massively contested player but he needs to improve so he’s not a liability. It’s frustrating as even a fairly small improvement and suddenly he’ll be a dangerous player for us.

IIRC he spent a year down back for them and accumulated huge metres gained.

I honestly doubt he would have got a game under Jack.
He’s everything Port never tolerated,you’d never see a player like him in a Port jumper years ago.
Things have sadly changed.

I think we need to stop making excuses for this guy and realize we messed up monumentally in trading for him. You can't hide his faults because he has too many.

The only thing he has that is AFL quality is a kick and every other aspect of his game wouldn't even be SANFL standard. It was obvious when he was at the Suns, was obvious to Hardwick, and is obvious to anyone that knows anything about footy.

He should play out his remaining years in the SANFL and the guys responsible for this trade should be sacked.

If our captain had any say in recruiting this guy (1 million a year!!!) then he should stand down too.

You can't be a decent side or even build to one when this level of complete incompetence is allowed without correcting. Draft capital gone, salary cap space gone and we end up with him for years to come.

This thread is getting silly. We overpaid for him at the trade table yes, we're overpaying his salary yes, he has some major flaws yes, all of that is true. But you're absolutely dreaming if you think we have 23 better players than Jack Lukosius

We can go Luko long down the middle > Bergman mark in centre square > Bergman long into an open 50 for Berry. That sort of thing

In general play he will be a liability, no different to up forward. Thats why GC pissed him off and paid up for Noble and Rioli.

But yeah, he will play for years till we find enough talent to replace him. Like he did at GC.

Thats what Hardwick was trying to do before we gave him an out so that he didn't have to.

Carr needs to send a message here pretty soon I think for the sake of Luko and setting standards for the rest of the team.

Setting the standard from here on in is more important than wins at the moment.

We are obsessed with mediocrity at Alberton. Carr better start soon with bringing in some quality or his job will be on the line. Luko is not one of them.
