On his way to becoming one of our most disappointing recruits of all time.

I'd like to say it's a waste of a career, but he's getting paid like a top liner, so guess he's having the last laugh...

I don't think we would have taken him if we knew the bid matching rules were going to change either, so at the moment it's just a disaster. We could have traded that pick for something we could have used to match and probably picked him up a year later as a delisted FA or similar.

There's talent in there but he needs to completely change his mindset.

Toppings player he'll be fine when the team is rolling & do really nice things, however nice players are hot garbage when you are in a fight for form as a team.

The hype this guy had in his draft year seems absurd now.
Toumpas, Trengove; Lukosius, Mayes. We love a failed, SA former early first rounder.

Luko doesn’t possess the physicality or mental toughness to flourish in any KP role. You’d be crazy to hire him as a lead actor given what he’s managed to produce in his career so far. He’s routinely shown that his threshold at AFL level is a 3rd tall. The sooner people accept this, the better.

He’s going to cop a barrage of abuse from port supporters over the next few years with the way he plays.

I'm never accepting his lack of putting his body in the contest. I'm never accepting his refusal to tackle effectively.

I think we need to stop making excuses for this guy and realize we messed up monumentally in trading for him. You can't hide his faults because he has too many.

The only thing he has that is AFL quality is a kick and every other aspect of his game wouldn't even be SANFL standard. It was obvious when he was at the Suns, was obvious to Hardwick, and is obvious to anyone that knows anything about footy.

He should play out his remaining years in the SANFL and the guys responsible for this trade should be sacked.

If our captain had any say in recruiting this guy (1 million a year!!!) then he should stand down too.

You can't be a decent side or even build to one when this level of complete incompetence is allowed without correcting. Draft capital gone, salary cap space gone and we end up with him for years to come.
Yep. Drop him. Rough him up at training on a daily basis. Make him earn some of his money.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but according to the club's website Jack Lukosius's ratings average for the first two rounds were,

Disposals - Elite
Marks - Elite
Kicks - Elite
Tackles - Elite
Goals - Above average
Goal Accuracy - Above average

As of about 10 minutes ago his numbers for the wet toast game are not yet included, but if the metrics for giving those ratings are in any way a serious measure of a player's performance it would have to be extremely difficult for the term `Elite' to survive Sunday's extremely poor effort!

Thats what Hardwick was trying to do before we gave him an out so that he didn't have to.

Carr needs to send a message here pretty soon I think for the sake of Luko and setting standards for the rest of the team.

Setting the standard from here on in is more important than wins at the moment.
To me this is a defining moment in Carrs coaching career. If he doesn't set a standard this week & drop Luko we are going to get a repeat of the Hinkley era. As you say this is way more important than a win. This is about respecting a football club by setting minimum standards of effort to pull on that jumper.

I'd be interested to know what feedback he gets from games. But the club is probably in a predicament where they are forced to play him due to his salary.
That shouldnt matter. Not a good idea to keep repeating mistakes & it sends completely the wrong message to other players. The leadership group has a big role to play in this as well. There should be zero tolerance.

It definitely shouldn't. But I don't think the leadership group would have any say in that matter. No way they'll have $1million salary play SANFL in the 2nd of the 6 year deal.

Just typing that out is criminal. What an absolute list management disaster. Time we move on Jason Cripps.

I'm OK if he puts it to him and gives him a chance to respond.

I didn’t even think he was that bad on Sunday lol.
He wasn’t best on ground, but he certainly was far from the worst. So many in here being way over the top.

How’s that top 4 spot going Tibbsy?
You worked it out yet that my so called negativity was just reality or are you still stuck in denial mode.
I never ever said we would be top-4 ... so stop making crap up! After just a few games, nothing's changed for me 120volt. We are not a bottom-4 side, and IMO still have the potential to be chasing finals.

The premise always was that the team needed to stay healthy. Now, another important player in Rategolea goes down, so we have Rozee, SPP, Marshall, Sinn, Bergman, Rategolea, along with a list of developing players, all out injured, and quite a few others including Horny, Zerk, and Wines, all underdone from past injury. The fact that Meade is back playing tells our list is stretched again from injury.

And you are GLOATING in your negative sewer? Stuff me!!! Mate, its not just me, its every other poster here has noted that you just cannot post a positive post! What a joyful person you must be to live with.

Despite the disappointed of an avoidable loss last week, I still saw a lot of positives ... how sad that you are unable to find and post even ONE of these.

He wasn't the worst on ground, not even by a long shot.

However, for what we paid in trade collateral, and what we are paying in terms of contract he was absolute piss. Zero endeavour to chase and harass, trying to chest mark with a bloke on his hammer, missing regulation shots on goal. A bloke being paid $1m+ a year should not have these deficiencies in his game.

Luko plays like a kid who grew early, was athletically gifted in juniors and never had to learn to play 'hard' because he was always the biggest and the best. That shit don't fly in big boy land.

Needs to keep playing and hopefully get a long string of games together, which hopefully results in his confidence building.

I'm glad Josh is moving him around though as i'm not sure key forward is really where he can play his best footy.

At this point it is looking like a bad trade, but it isn't a disaster just yet, i want to give him more time. I thought he was good against Essendon and he clearly was not alone in being shit on sunday, how many winners did we have on the ground after quarter time?

Calls that this trade could cost the club for years are way over the top. So many clubs burn first round picks on dud players and it doesn't force them into the doldrums.

I think we keep looking for a scapegoat and Luko is an easy target, we are where we are due to years of decision making and perhaps just being our time to reset. We are never one bad trade or good trade away from failure or success.

A lot of positives?

I hate to think what the good teams will do to us if you saw a lot of positives in that performance.

That game was nothing to write home about apart from Whitlock.
