Player Watch Jack Lukosius

He's kicked 5 goals in a game against Geelong in each of the last 2 seasons. I don't think anyone at Port is even close to that, so if he manages that he's won me over. ;)

It'll be amusing to watch the 180° if he kicks 5 this weekend
Na, we all know he could kick an occasional bag. He kicked 5 on the Cats in 23 and 24, yet was still dropped twice by the SUNS last year.

He kicked 9 goals in the first 10 games last year, including a bag of 3 and 5. That leaves 7 games without a goal in 10.

It's like people just see his draft number and forget the reality of his performance which has been poor since his breakout under-age year.

I want to CONSISTENTLY see a committed, hard working forward, who commits to the contest, is rarely beaten by his opponent, and who also hits the scoreboard. The first 3 are items rarely seen in his career to date.

If he produces them regularly then happy days. He won't though, that's not him. He's a fringe player, that is going to frustrate and disappoint, that we overpaid for. He is definitely not going to be the difference in a flag push.

It'd be weird going to a new club and immediately being told we're all going through the motions until the new coach starts next season. I imagine it's a fairly flat atmosphere...or maybe that's just us.

I'll try and reserve judgement until I see him play under Carr's plan next year.

Then your beef is with Todd Marshall. We all know this won't be Jack. He's merely a product of the opportunist mentality required to be an interstate club these days.

There is undoubtedly Elite Tall Forward talent here. It is fair to have questions about his ferocity at the contest, but I don’t want that answered in a meaningless scratch match.

In fact, it’s not his role to crash packs generally but there will be times where that opportunity presents.

Thats our issue. We dont have a pack crasher anymore. Even though Dix was well past it, that was his role

I dont see George in this role, our other talls are flakey (Marshall [inj], Luko and Finlayson), and the rest are kids (Whitlock and Lord) who wont get a game

If we go Esava again (which we cant anyway because we have no backs either) then we are screwed

Luko has known deficiencies but we have to remember he's being coached by the worst forward coaching tandem in the league. I'm giving him this season and next.

As the official buddy of this great off-season trading addition to our team, I come here to defend the poor kid.

He cannot become tough and dominate our games until given enough time to learn all of Kens tough learnings.

We must allow time for this kid to absorb these grand learnings from master Ken.

13 years of learnings will appropriately take 13 years to learn.

let's all remain calm, and revisit this thread in 13 years to see how he fared

Dudes not a pack crasher hes a lead up nick riewoldt type. He was never going to be the Dixon jostle and take on two defenders gorilla type forward. Even though that what the coaches probably think he will be. Its like when the blues recruited O’Shea and expected him to be a tall KPD when he was a third tall/flanker. Like no just no

Jack requires space lead up and delivery and we severely lack the last factor such is the shit the bed ball use. He kicks the majority of his goals from ground balls so he can use his best asset which is his boot. See the following vid:

Ideally Lord would be the crash and bash forward, looks like he now has the frame. George roaming round the joint and Luko higher up the ground

When in reality Luko will frustrate the coaches because he isnt the type of forward they want him to be and inevitably get shafted to the backline and face obscurity once again.

Its not a melt its not bed wetting, its 13 year of hinkley tenure. You can see it from a mile away. Its going to be a long season folks and thats not Jack Lukosius’ fault. Its how he is going to be played.

That's probably for the best, your mum's texts are so full of spelling mistakes I can barely figure out what time she wants me to come over.

He cant win a contest, therefore he MUST be good at leading

Its the coaches fault he played poorly in a game that hasn't happened

Playing the classics

I just hope that Luko is played to his advantages.

The dude can flat out kick a football.

That goal he kicked came from a rampaging midfield break that stopped with Rozee wheeling around to pick out Lukosius against the play and from 50 out, he nailed it and it probably went 60 to 65 into the wind.

We just got to get this dude free within 55 metres of goals because he's such a great finisher of the ball. He should bring terror into the opposition side when he marks the ball anywhere from 55 out because it is more than likely to be a goal. I know people won't like the comp but a little bit of Tex Walker.

No problem with Lukosius being a leading forward rather than a pack crasher- I prefer it actually. But if you are going to lead and work to space, you need a terrific work ethic and tank like Riewoldt had with the capacity to give repeat efforts all game. Has he got that?
Yes
