The issue is that Lukoisus is not a bash and crash type of player. So it is annoying to see the players bomb the ball on a one on one. You can question his work rate and ability to chase when the opposition team has the ball in their defensive 50.

He barely put any body into his opponent in the marking contests in the first half. Yes the kicks were not perfect but Edwards had no problem marking them.

If you think he did those things, I suggest you look again.

That he kicked 3 goals, and had enough of a work rate to take 9 marks around the ground. He needs to adjust to our game plan and so will take time to settle in and be a consistent week to week performer. He has just come off of 12 weeks out with a serious injury. I think people’s expectations are unrealistic.

Well we can only hope Carr and the new forwards coach can unlock his best, because that first quarter in particular was appalling - Marshall levels of aggression combined with a Finlayson level of negative body language.

Look, that sounds fair and reasoned in principle, but I dunno, I think after watching footy for decades, most of us can spot when someone's just not trying to run hard enough. At least, that seemed to be the common sentiment today in the game thread, by a ****ton of people, certainly not just myself.

He didn't do that in his first game ... I was watching him and I thought ... Jesus Christ ... he reminds me of Finners with that level of disinterest, so yeah he was on my radar early and continues to be. If he comes good in that department, I'll be the first to welcome him back with open arms. Even Willy, whom I love to bits, I'm forced to call for to be dropped, for presenting much the same lately.

Was shit today but I thought he was good last weekend. So after such a long stint on the sidelines 1 good game followed by one bad game is hardly time to panic.

Half the team was atrocious today.

It’s a watch but I think 2026 is the year to really judge him, this year has just been a disaster for him.

Not going to be the magic forward cure that many had hoped for. Plays like a tall half forward who needs to get his goals from leadups into the 50 arc. Thats ok if he nails his shots and provides an extra foil for MG. The search however continues for Dixon Mk2. Hopefully Whitlock matures quicker then normal.

Totally get your point and not to hijack the topic, but Sam Mayes was so much better IMO than some of the junk we've played in our team over the last few years. He could've been given a better and bigger role for us in his time on the list.

Luko is not a KPF & would excel in a Westhoff type role. The problem going forward is we need a genuine KPF who can help out Georgie up front. Lord is not up to it, Whitlock ain’t ready & Marshall when fit, is also better suited to a tall link up player.

Dante might be our best bet as a forward/ruck in 2026.

The delivery to him was pretty poor, but welcome to Ken Hinkley's forward structure.

It was more his response to balls dropping short or missing him. Maybe he wouldn't have been able to get to any of them, but he mostly just stuck out one hand and watched the ball sail past with a bit of an annoyed look on his face.

Not dissimilar to Finlayson's body language at times, which is the worry, although certainly not as bad. Still, I'd have thought in game 3 or whatever it was for your new club, after a loss last week, you'd be wanting to show some more intent.

Probably looked worse with the close ups on TV than at the ground.

I think Luko needs to play high half forward because simply, he is one of the rare players on our list who can score outside 50 meters. A handy weapon for the mega-floods.
