the herald sun did a top 100 paid playersHow can anyone possibly know exactly what a player is getting paid?
Is it fact Luko is on over a mill a season at port?
That's not on a yearly basis though, fairly sure that report is what the player is getting paid that year. And Luko had his contract frontloaded so 1 mil last year would make sense. Average I think is around 8-900kthe herald sun did a top 100 paid players
they had luko on 1mil im pretty sure
He needs to stay fit to have a chance of being any good.Jeremy Howe was a bit the same and viewing himself as a forward was a big part of the reason why he moved from Melbourne, where they'd shifted him into defence.
But Jack will get a chance as a forward. Maybe he'll take it.
Mac and cheese gone too so it's double up time. This forum always has a whipping boy and now Burton is gone Luko is odds on to be the replacement,

The Herald Sun published a list of what they believe to be the highest 100 paid players in the AFL. They had Lukosius at number 34 on a salary guess/estimate of between $900K and $1M. Players 26 to 35 were all guessed to be in that same salary range so the order is completely arbitrary. If they actually know what the players are being paid surely they would use that figure and rank the players accordingly.the herald sun did a top 100 paid players

He's on a million dollars a year and did his calf twice like he's a 35 year old man
Until he proves he can get his body right and dominate we've overpaid and continue to... by a lot
I wouldn't have an issue if he was on 6-750 but he's likely nearing double that and also cost us a top 10 pick.
He should be easily top 5 key forwards with the money he's on
It’s like a lot of things in life, people judge it in comparison to what you paid for it.The price for Lukosius was fine. When you don't prioritise drafting KPF's early for most of 13 years, you're inevitably going to have to pay up to get an established one. Even if they are average (with potential to be more).
A lot of anger/frustration with Lukosius, rather than directing it all at Hinkley and co. for not drafting/developing KPF's AND Jack getting heat for practically giving away Houston. If Port had gotten the (bare minimum) reasonable price of another first into for Houston and used that for Lukosius, so we'd kept ours for 2025, he'd be getting a lot less heat.
He’s had years to prove himself at GC,Shitting on players when nothing has happened in months and pre-season has barely kicked off is a bit weird.
Give the guy a chance to prove himself when he's fit.
Damien Hardwick also got rid of Jay Schulz at Richmond. He’s had years to prove himself at GC,
he’s no Joe Berry.
I’d say Hardwick would have a better idea about a footballers ability than you and me.
If he’s happy to move him on it tells you all you need to know.
Hardwick also has a plethora.of talent at his disposal, we dontDamien Hardwick also got rid of Jay Schulz at Richmond.
That alone should end any suggestion that the “Luko must be shit because Hardwick got rid of him” argument has any merit.
There is a lot of ifs and buts in your argument. As has been highlighted earlier in the thread, the trade of a F1 for Luko was done on the reasonable assumption that we’d be finishing around the top end of the ladder and it would’ve been a pick that landed 15+ in a draft we clearly didn’t rate.
It was a reasonable gamble to get a talented KPF into the club - which aren’t cheap.
An unfortunate year with injury for the club has meant the price blew out to ultimately pick 11 in a draft we did not rate.
Frankly, that’s at the lower end of the going rate for a good, talented KPF.
Dixon (at the same age and with a fairly similar output to date at the suns) cost us Pick 10 and a future second rounder as an example - and while Dixon has a mixed reputation around here, I think most would agree that the trade was good value for Port.
Either way, it shows that the benchmark value for a good KPF is higher than what we actually paid for Luko - and based on what I’ve seen to date, he has the talent and ability to deliver on that.
So I think the crying over the price paid for Luko is misplaced, and if he comes on like he showed in the majority of uninjured games he played this season, he should actually be a steal.
As for the money he’s on, respectfully who cares? You need to pay to get KPFs in the door, and he hasn’t forced anyone out the door due to a salary cap squeeze (and it doesn’t seem like the contract will in future, as we’ve been widely reported to have plenty of cap to sign-up Butters and still go after NWM) - so why is this something worth whinging about?
It seems like you just dislike Luko / he’s your club whipping boy, and you’re just looking for a reason to complain about him.
Again, give him a clear run at it with injury next season while playing in a functional forwardline thanks to the new Carr game plan, and Luko will thrive.

I don't see why they can't go with what clubs are doing. There is no reason not to have athletes salaries public, would end any debate of who are doing third illegal party payments (cough Geelong)

I'm confident he feels much better about Dew than reuniting with Dimma.Anyone know how he feels about reuniting with Dew?
Especially since this will be his 8th year on a list and his ceiling has been "he's a good kick" but his goal kicking record sits at 53% sooo...He'll be pretty important if used to his strengths, he's never gonna live up to the 'generational talent' bs of his draft year though that ship has well and truly sailed.
