Blakey with his head over the ball. Martin with no eyes for the ball, solely intent on striking Blakey in the head with a first. What a cowardly act.

2 weeks is a farce. An intentional strike to the head should be at least 3 weeks.

Didn't even have eyes for the ball.

Protected species, should be minimum 3 if not 4

2 very lucky, and they are appealing? Won't matter

Go D's!!

I think you would have to look at cases that were found to be medium and high.

This one in the VFL of Sonsie was argued by the VFL to be severe impact both at the Tribunal and on appeal, but both Tribunals found it to be high impact. The opponent who was struck, despite his initial reaction looking worrying, was not injured to any significant degree. Sonsie got a week more than Martin due to Sonsie's strike being deliberate v Martin's careless.

Which of the two impacts do you think was stronger?

Happens 1000 times a game. There was a contest where the ball was there to be won. Unfortunately Blakey come off second best. It happens it’s footy. Anything more than a fine is laughable

Well bugger, it seems Martins issue here is he didn't leave the ground as he tried to tackle Blakey, AFL have just shown that he would be given the all clear if he had of jumped first :(

It's a late start for this one, can't be good for preparations. I reckon it'll be after 10pm til the verdict comes in and it'll be Jack Martin 2 weeks. Good for the game - you can't have gutless players like that swinging coward punches to knock the opposition out.

Knocking the ball out of a players hands is a football act. Martin’s fist were clenched as if he were knocking the ball out of Blakey’s hand.

That he entered the contest carelessly no longer matters, because he had no other options once he arrived at the point where he hit him in the face.

0 weeks.

Not sure what they are appealing on. Looks a blatant 2 weeker

Actually Rioli got two weeks for s slappy slap slap in the school yard, this is probably 4...... i'm joking but they seem happy to rub certain players out. if Maynards name was Rioli and did exactly the same thing would he be suspended? we all know the answer.
