From a reasonable source, Frawley wants out. He requested a trade to Saints last year, was held to his contract though. I would want us to go all out for him. A backline of Chaplin, Rance and Frawley with Grimes, Houli and Morris taking the smalls and Batchelor playing the loose role would rival the competition's best.

Out of the Jacks... Good question. I'd probably take Watts and stick him at FF. Quality usage of the ball and attention to Jack and Ty will have him flourish. I doubt he'll be a Demon in 2014 too.
What would you give up for each of them though?

I'll play the game and say Trengove without a shadow of a doubt. This kid will be a gun. Injuries have crippled him the last 18 months.

But in all seriousness i hope they all stay at the Dees and lets be perfectly honest how would they plan on leaving??? Are any out of contract and un-restricted free agents??? Nope all too young. Dont even think any of them qualify for restricted free agency and they are all young enough to rebuild with. Two of them are club captains and are so for a reason. They have good heads on their shoulders and will be fighting tooth and nail for THEIR club.

The Dees recruiting staff are the ones who want looking at. So many top picks so little results.

We actually looked into Grimes last year but obviously nothing game out of it. Correct me if this isn't correct but I was told he's coming out of contract this season, he won't be a free agent but it does give us an upper hand if we do try and bring him in.

Obviously we've got his brother at the club and he's also good mates with Cotchin, the two of them played for the Northern Knights together so you'd expect he'd have some interest in coming to the club although its never easy bringing in another teams captain.

Just on that point, when was the last time the Dees didn't have more than one pick in the first round at some stage?

Seems every year Melb gets another few cracks in the ND rd 1, if the AFL throws them some more pity picks this year it will be an absolute disgrace.

Since Frawley is a FA, nothing. 600k a year over 4 years would be ideal. AA FB don't grow on trees.

If our first round pick is in the 13-18 zone, I'd give that to the Dees for Watts + a swap of second round picks. If it's not, perhaps our second rounder and a player like Astbury or Helbig.
No matter how crap he has been, he wasn't pick one for no reason. Even Tambling cost the Crows their first and third rounder.

If they're uncontracted and ask to be traded they could leave. The situation they are in they may chance their luck in the draft not caring where they end up as no matter what it will be better. :p

Frawley wont be a FA for another year. But yes that would be awesome. Would mean Jack never has to play on him again. :p

I wouldn't give up a first for Watts. I also don't think it would take that to get him for that matter. I'd back us to find and develop something better. A 2nd rounder in the late 20's and a fringe player then you'd have to consider it.

For which Melbourne should and i would hope would say well if your not signing with us then you can sit out of footy for 1 year or 2 years or whatever it is and not get paid at all. These 3 havent earnt / spent the time in the system to be dictating where they play there football. Plus two of them are club captains. Watts is the only one i could see them letting go and they will be asking a fairly hefty price in draft picks for him if he is to go.

They won't have to sit out. If they're uncontracted they can walk to the draft. Melbourne can re-draft them but they'd waste their first rounder on someone who doesn't want to be there.

For this reason alone i hope like hell the AFL dont just take the easy option and give them a priority pick. They will just (beep) it up again and its wasted. Id rather them let young Hogan play this year than give them a priority pick that they have poor past experience with.

Haha oh yeah not sure where i was getting my ideas from. Carry on, Nothing to see here ;)

But seriously i doubt any of these guys would go to those lengths. They will all be getting paid more at the Dees than anywhere else they could go and hey money talks :D

Not sure if serious.

If we gave up a first rounder for Watts, regardless of where it was, I'd want Hartley sacked on the spot - we'd be a laughing stock and rightly so. Kid is damaged goods and may well be beyond repair. Worth a small to medium risk at best, not a big costly one.

Pretty sure this year's draft is supposed to be the genuine super draft also and the best kids will all be available to everyone unlike recent years. Even last year the likes of Grundy were still available at 18.

I'm completely serious. Have a think about where the Demon's will land up. Most likely last or second last. This means they'll have 19 or 20. This is assuming we have a pick in between 13-18, lets go with 14. This mean we'll have pick 32 as our second rounder. So basically we are dropping 6 picks and trading our second rounder for Watts. Sounds pretty fair to me.

Watts - Rookie. Too much talent not to take a punt on.
Trengrove - Yes. Elite endurance runner and fierce competitor. Is obviously struggling with captaining a rabble of a side at a young age.
Grimes - Yes but only if we can be reasonably sure he is over his injury troubles.

Nope. We'd be laughed out of trade week. Trengove's the only MFC player who might be available that I'd even contemplate trading a first round pick for.

Trengove is the best bet there. Kid can play. Grimes can play too, but he's held together with chewing gum and duct tape (a little like his brother). Watts isn't really worth anything anymore.

Forgot about Grimes' injury history - take back what I said about trading the likes of Rance for him.

Still would for Frawley though. Gun AA fullback about to hit his prime who would improve our backline tenfold - would swap any one of Rance/Astbury/Dea/Griffiths(unless we plan to move him up forward again)/Helbig - probably even any two of them and chuck in McGoof for good measure.

.....and Jack would never have to be his bitch again. :D:thumbsu:

You keep having a dig at MR for his suggestions yet yours are so bad they are funny. Offering Helbig, Dea? We aren't trading Rance either, at least MR puts forward a realistic suggestion.

In all seriousness.... cause I really don't know...
What are Jack Watts' key talents and abilities that helped him get to be a #1 draft pick???
I dunno... never saw him as a teenager.... is he playing now as he was at 16 against other boys and is being found out as a man or what?

Doeas he have a big tank, or is he a great contested mark or an elite kick????

I really don't know?
(& I'm not having a veiled shot at the Dee's for picking him up at one either.... plenty agreed he deserved it)

.

Ok sorry MR & sante just saw this - didn't know Frawley was a FA now. Take back some of what I said back in regards to trading for him.

(Would've still swapped Rance for him if he wasn't though.:p)

...though I'd still like to know why sante seems to think Helbig & Dea have somehow reached "untouchable" status.:confused:o_O

He's not a FA. This is only his 7th year. Same age as Jack.

Then the trade's back on!:D:thumbsu:

....and I hereby reinstate the LMFAO @ sante and extend it to everyone who liked his post!:D:thumbsu::D:thumbsu:
