I binged all 8 episodes of season 2 today and IMO I think the second season was only a minor drop off in quality from the first season, until the final episode. It must have been 15 years since I read the book, so I can't remember how the story ended but surely it can't be as disappointing as how that season ended. The Helicopter scene ruined it for me, it took the story into Bond territory where "realism" gives way to fantasy.
