Analysis Jack Redden - 2016

Hasn't racked the stats up but does some nice things. Looks a goer and adds a bit of toughness to our weak midfield, in my humble opinion.

At least he looks like he wants to be here. Jetta walks around like he's a rockstar and plays like a drunken cow.
I kind of feel sorry for Jetta, he looks sad every time he stuffs something up. His heads not in the game at the moment and he just doesn't work hard enough. We used to have similar criticism of Hill though and he now seems to be one of our harder workers, maybe Jetta will turn it around.

I really hope he does. He could be that missing piece of the puzzle.

Reserving judgement until next year. An actual pre-season will go a long way to increasing his production as will some time to get to know WC's structures and understanding his team mates running patterns better.

problem with redden is he is used to picking up his possessions sideways and backwards of the play as we saw brissy do on the weekend . Just look at rockliff , Robinson and Hanley getting 35+ touches each but going nowhere .
We move the ball far differently to what Redden is used to .
He will not learn his new running patterns by playing for East Perth .
We have to persist with him as we have put a fair investment into him .
His lack of output is not a work rate issue he is just not getting into good position Atm .
You also have to take into account that we are 15th in the comp for total possessions but high in total scoring 4th meaning very have very efficient ball use .
No many padded stats

I still dont get it, new recruits arrive at the club having played footy all their lives, and somehow, they struggle for a few years whilst it takes a couple of years to figure out OUR game plan? Was nothing talked about over the pre season? Are these people a bit dim? Is it the coaches fault?

Dangerfield can seemingly learn geelongs game plan in a pre season, so what gives?

Geelong had to learn Dangerfields gameplan.

Maybe he & his partner had a paternity test and he got some bad news. Think there was a rumour in shitney

I agree with this too. He was basically under pressure from the fans and media the moment he walked in and now looks very nervous out there to me. Probably isn't in a great frame of mind to be playing, and I feel like all this external pressure might not be helping much.

On reddo, to me he always looks like he's labouring out there and always struggling to catch his breath. I think he will really benefit from a proper preseason and we probably won't see anywhere near his best until that happens.

Yeh, I think Jetta really needs a big game at Subi to get the crowd on his side a bit and get his confidence back. Agree with Redden, hasn't worked this year because of his fitness but at his best I think he has a place in the side, as you say, hopefully comes good next year.

Thats where missing the preseason hasn't helped for Redden. He has to learn on the go instead of having practised it repetitively

Redden has been disappointing, plain and simple.

Learning the game plan has just been the excuse the club has come up with. He's in the prime of his footballing career and has just left a basket case club to play with one that was in a grand final last season. He should look like a rock star, yet his numbers have arguably never been worse.

Needs to lift. Weights. Also on field.

Problem is if you sit out a massive bulk of the pre-season and have no idea how the game plan works , sitting on the sidelines till March is useless as you need to be out there putting it all in to practice. His goal was to bulk up and help out in the middle but instead he had to slim down and play more outside than in which has hasn't helped his natural game.

If people expected him to be the Redden of a few years ago with virtually no pre season then you're kidding yourself. You should basically discount all the numbers he got in Brisbane anyway as of the evidence of last weeks game. Brisbane had 100 more possessions than us and still got smashed, so really, what do kick chasing stats really count for anyway?

Lmao

There is one explanation for the low stats-high score phenomenon, and that's JJK.

Take him out of the side and our bomb-it-long ball use suddenly doesn't look very efficient.
