Jack Redden is one of the 2 high profile recruits (somewhat) we added to our list. I for one was a fan of recruiting redden (still am) as he strengthens our on ball brigade. At his best Redden is a B/+B grader thats great contested player and a tackling machine.

Like Jetta, Redden has struggled with adjusting to the side but he also missed the majority of the preseason through injury. Yet he has basically avoided any criticism and hasn't been dropped yet. Unlike Jetta, redden cost us more as we handed our first round pick (some players that went around the mark include, lovell, Dunkley, Collins and Tucker) to the lions.

This thread isn't meant to bash jack but more of a discussion about Jack's form. I understand due to his limited preseason he wont reach his best footy but im hoping he at least he reach the form that he displayed for brissy in his last couple of years for them.

As it stands, Redden Averages 17 touches (8 contested possessions), 5 tackles, 4 clearances and has kicked 5 goals. For a pure inside mid, his numbers are down but the biggest worry is that he isnt getting the footy as much.

A lot of People have mentioned that Priddis, Redden and Hutchings cannot play in one side and i agree. At the moment Hutchings and him are dissapointing but Hutching just has him covered as he is hitting the scoreboard more often and has stopped a couple of the opposition mids from having big games against us. For that reason alone i would keep hutchings in the side. I would love Simmo to drop Redden to the two's and get him used to accumulating the footy and being the clearance machine he is. Instead of Rushing him back like last time i would like to see Simmo make jack earn that spot with some dominating performances for the royals.

Once in the side i actually won't mind Redden given a soft tagging role on the oppositions best mids like Barlow, Mitchell, Coniglio and Robinson have been doing. I think Barlow is a perfect example for him to work his way. Like Redden, Barlow was seriously out of form and he was made to earn his spot back into the side and now thriving in a new role. Maybe Redden can start on a flank during a CBD and we go with Priddis, Shuey and yeo combo and during stoppages he mans up on his target.

I would say a pass mark for Redden in the second half of the season would be an average of 22 disposals, 5 clearances and 5 tackles a game.
