We've seriously missed a defensive edge, but how much of that is down to us being clearly off the pace in terms of fitness, gameplan and mental attitude?

i agree with your disagree. Hutchings is a very average player. He does some good tagging but that's the extent of it.

Sad because if he played as well as he did in the 2018 finals all the time we would be a significantly better side. I blame the coaches for not getting the most out of him.

Two of Hutch's best seperate run of games came in the 2015 finals series and 2018 finals series. Guy can step up. It's the rest of the time that seems to be hit and miss.

This. The oft-repeated classic is Rowan Jones being an effective blocker for Chris Judd and co to do their magic in 2006. Chris Masten as much as some on this board detest him played his part to perfection as well in 2018.

Doesn't have to be Hutchings, it could be Redden, or maybe someone else, but need the role players to step up too.

Redden is clearly post peak but only cost us pick 17 in the 2015 draft, which was a terrible draft crop. No midfielders were helping us in the 2018 flag from that year. Hugh fives for the recruiter's for turning pick 17 into Redden, Callum Sinclair into Jetta and Rosa Into Gold Coasts pick 28 (seriously) which we turned into Partytown
