Bumping this thread after his terrible performance.

I'm the sort of supporter who loves his club and players to death, but Redden desperately needs a run in the 2s.

I've been a defender of Redden but he stunk it up on the weekend. His 2011 to 2015 form was quite good, regularly getting 25 to 30 possession games. What's changed? What role was he playing at Brisbane to get those numbers? He just can't seem to find his feet at West Coast.

Redden has been average since day one. Honestly, if you watch him live you see how lazy he is. He never, ever runs hard to defence. He is just jogs along like he is on a Sunday stroll. He is not strong, quick or decisive. I have no idea why we recruited him.

The only player more useless when it comes to running back in defence is Priddis. He just stands near no-one and flaps his arms around like a headless chook watching opposition players run off and make a lead and he never follows them. I have always admired Priddis but he should retire immediately. The game has passed him by.

What made you think of this crazy new idea?

I said at the end of last year that there is no chance Duggan, Sheed, Yeo, Redden and Jetta could possibly play that bad again in 2017.

Turns out i was wrong about the latter two.

Absolutely baffling he could be a 'reasonable' player with the lions just to come over here and immediately be placed in the 'turnip basket'.

Would love for him to succeed but he just ****ing sucks, no sugar coating it. No reason whatsoever why he should be picked before Partington now.

We thought we were buying an Aston Martin DB5. Turns out we were buying a Datsun 120Y.

Time he was dropped, bring in Partington and lets see what he can do, because let's face it, Redden isn't going to help us win any games at this point.

How did Redden fall away so quickly? is it our system? structure? coaching? It's a bit of a worry since he was pretty good at Brisbane and it's not like he is being asked to lead our midfield.

To be honest our recruiting needs to be looked at.

Instead of targeting players on the rise or at least showing promise (Yeo, Cripps) we targeted players in a form slump with little to no chance of improving on what they'd already shown.

Whilst Jetta at his best would have improved our side, his best and worst are miles apart and he was showing some worrying signs in his last year with the Swans that they had to drop him to make a point.

Redden was never anything brilliant but he was seen as a potential Priddis replacement however he was going backwards in 2014 and 2015. When a player turns around and asks to be traded because he feels he needs a fresh start to find his best form again alarm bells should be ringing. You don't trade away first round picks for players in a slump expecting they can turn it around just because they move to a new club.

Instead of getting Redden (who was nothing special) for our 2015 first round pick, I would have much preferred if we gave our 1st, 2nd and may be even Sinclair to GWS for Coniglio. Remember this was 2015 and before Coniglio had great year in 2016 and Lobb burst on the scene. May be a trade for Coniglio was not possible at the time but having Coniglio in the midfield would have been infinitely better than having Redden in there.

Redden has fallen away so quickly. It's funny cause we thought he was a scooter upgrade as well. It could be our system as there's a few players who struggled to adapt to our system.

Funny thing is that scooter would have been ideal for the current role reddened playing.

I'm still gonna back Redden in but give him a stint at EP and just retain him for another year.

I think Coniglio signed a contract extension in July of 2015, so he wasn't an option that trade period.
