Yes they are. That said in recent times more an more players ar having seasons averaging in the high 20s or so. Last year Lachie Neale set the record for most disposals a year and this year Tom Mitchell looked to get that comfortably.

Gaff is a prime example of this as well. I can't think of many pure outside playes having that much easy getting the footy, even tho his inside mids don't get him the ball.

His second half on this season was great and with more on ball time he should improve more .
He will never be a match winner but be the bloke that allows and helps others to be that match winner.

He normally stands one of the opponents best inside mids and if he can break even with them it goes a long way to us winning the contests
 
His second half of the season was 'improved', not great - he's not gone anywhere near producing what he was doing at his best at Brisbane.

Considering we'll be reloading with same squad, minus retirees + draftees then guys like Redden will need to be the ones that step up in a big way to avoid a pretty rough season.

Might actually play in the midfield - in the middle as in not on a forward flank

Might actually get midfielder like stats.

Well said sir, i dont care if he's 27 he can still improve on last seasons output
 
redden needs to be a cunnigton/ward type of player for our midfield. The role of an extractor is important to a midfield but they shouldn't be your most important mid imo.
