his kicking needs a lot of work, lets himself and his team mates down with his set shots

But he is doing a great job in his other area's - needs to work on his disciplne a little too

he needs to be strung up for his goal kicking nothing short of deplorable...you could sub the cheer squad leader for every shot he takes with NO worse conversion...and you call these blokes pro footballers gimmee a break:eek:..rank amateur stuff, glad I didnt go
he kicked 3 goals 2 behinds today, he is only going to improve, or we could move him down back and ruin another future KP Forward...

Who is our kicking coach?

People should not just be having a go at Riewoldt, our kicking is atrocious.
Riewoldt & Morton set shots are woeful. Its about time someone take them aside and force them to hold and kick the ball properly. this should have been done years ago because i cant see much change since they started. what are the coaching staff doing?

Great attack on the ball - natural ability:thumbsu:
Great mark - natural ability:thumbsu:
Great courage - natural ability:thumbsu:
Field kicking - natural ability:thumbsu:
Goal kicking - poor:thumbsdown:

Great prospect still only 20yrs old and his future in front of him, needs someone to teach this lad how to develop a routine and nail it each time. You can't teach someone to attack and mark the ball like he does, you can't teach someone how to be courageous, it's a natural ability you either have it or you don't. RIEWOLDT HAS IT:thumbsu:. We can however teach him to kick.

Putting him down back to hide him from the goals is a weak defeatist mentality.:thumbsdown:

If someone had pulled Richo into line when he was 20 then who knows what he could have done?

Don't lose faith in him, I am sure the new coach and assistants will address this ASAP;)

His kicking was poor but his attack on the ball and marking ability were great. He reads the general play pretty well but lacks a killer instinct right now. Remembering he's only 20 and still very raw. Next year with some weights (hopefully) and some set shot practice he may emerge.

Pretty hard when he is being double and tripled teamed as he has no support. People don't understand how hard it would be for him being the only tall, I think he's done great. Sure he needs work on his kicking but one M.Richardson has never been able to kick either and he's been pretty good. Let's take him out and have 0 talls down there and expect Nahas and Morton to kick 10 between them each week to keep us in it. Great idea.

Roo is a worse kick than Richo ever was.
Time to take the kid gloves off.
I think he's come good but he has to get the set shots right or he will be a failure.
You can take all the pack marks but if you can't convert then you are a liability.

There is only one worse set shot kick in the team - Hislop - waste of space.

Needs to be used as a hitup hf . At Coburg a few years ago he played this role and had a great understanding with Cleve Hughes where he was able to use his footy brain and footskills.
His goalkicking confidence is very low at the moment and being played deep in the forward line is not his positon at this early stage of his career.

I agree with Time On, needs to be a hit up player. Has excellent marking skills and is very good 1v1 at a marking contest.

If he can be taking marks leading up from a flank at 60-70m from goal, hands off to Whitey or Lids for a shot from 50, or to Cotchy or Collins or Cousin or Rainsy so for a quick dish inside 50 to a quick lead from Nahas or Morton or to Vickery in the square.

Riewoldt shouldn't be used as a FF just yet. Whats going on with Cleve Hughes, love the kicking style!

people are actually forgetting the fact that jack's kicking for goal was actually very good last year. i dunno what happened, whether it's a confidence thing or what, but it's gone downhill this season, but he's not a terrible kick. it can be rectified.

Nah we should trade him. Quite a few on this forum think 18 year old kids are the way to go for the future, we should get a second rounder for him;)

Yep... He would make a better defender

that is the dumbest call ever - you spud

jack had a great game, missed one very important mark late - give him a break.

he definitely is no clutch player, but for a 20 year old mid sized forward to be carrying our forward line - was excellent today
