Free Agency Jack Silvagni - [Joins St Kilda as UFA]

Would have thought destroying your list, begging for free draft picks from the AFL because of it, getting rejected, then when the AFL DEI hire from North Melbourne, who put the submission to the AFL in the first place, gets hired by the AFL and then approves her own admission for said free draft picks, would be seen as more a blatant act of corruption, but some have blinkered views I suppose.
In both the cases of the list gutting and the PPs, I think you're confusing corruption with incompetence.

Sacking Boomer was an act of incompetent list management.

And if North conspired with Kane to approve priority picks, and the best they could do was package together something for... checks notes... Darcy Tucker and Griffin Logue... then it'd have to be the single most piss poor act of corruption the AFL world has ever seen.

Now using your position to pay your own son close to million a year for five seasons, well over market rates in both length and imbursement - that's a scheme the Sicilian mafia would be proud of.

Still want to know if the cumulative contracts given to TDK and JSOS triggers band 1 for both.

Systems never really been tested like that before but when you lose a FA and then bring another in its always gone against you in terms of compensation due to the overall in vs out formula, so hypothetically we should be getting 2x Band 1 compos for both.

Doubt we'd get that because it's ridiculous, but from what we know that should be the outcome.
It was literally tested last year with GWS losing 3 players.

Perryman Band 1
Cumming Band 2
Haynes no compo.

It isn’t cumulative. It’s individual based.

Silvagni is an absolute spud of a player, staggering there are a few interested clubs. Shows lack of talent to service 18 clubs, god help the standard when Tassie come in
Go Roos

He really isn't. He's by no means a superstar gamechanger but he is actually a very intelligent footballer who can adapt to multiple positions and will give everything he has out on the field.

This is the thing that gets me. He has been dealing with the Silvagni name nepotism his whole career. Which I find unfair as its pretty damn unlikely any draftee is going to match the fullback of the century. He had the Doggies and Pies chasing him who are closer to success but went to the Saints. Yep they offered better $$ and this is the FA world but the image of him going to another club where his old man is list manager, no matter how much they deny his involvement, is going to to stick.

I love the guy, I hope he has a great career but geez its a big contract for a player who averages 10-12 games a year.

Dogs have been preparing all week for this tilt at Wilkie. ALL WEEK.

That’s some pretty shameful shit right there.

To be fair, they only knew they were out of finals contention last Wednesday, so commenced their season review then.

It went along the lines of, we're a bit short down back, who is the shortest player in the AFL currently playing as a key back?

First stop would have been Sicily, 2nd stop Wilkie because they read in the papers that he was questioning list strategy.

Despite the fact he's All Australian when played as defender 3 or 4 and that the list strategy is designed to have him back playing as defender 3 or 4 they said he'll fix our issues.

and here we are, attempting to prise away St Kilda's 2026 Captain.

Why is it shameful?

Their season ended a week or so ago, and from all reports they thought they were well in the hunt for Silvagni.

Sounds like they’ve pivoted which is a totally reasonable course of action to take.

Plenty of names we should be trading before Jack. One of the few that actually busts his ass every week despite being limited in terms of natural talent.
It’s a big loss for Carlton, Jack is a senior player who is one of the pillars of Carlton’s defence

An6 compensation less than a decent 1st rounder would be unacceptable

It's only fair for Saints to target opposition players.

It's not fair when it happens to them.

Simples.

I'd like to see where your team would be if you weren't gifted father sons and academy/nga players (like JUH, notwithstanding he went off the deep end).

You guys can target Wilkie but he is contracted and doesn't want to leave--so, i guess, simples.
