Have loved watching you play over the past 9 years Jack, and giving everything you could to the team.
So sorry we couldn’t have seen more success over your tenure.
But you can leave this club with your head held high - you have the respect of your teammates, obviously, and every single supporter I have no doubt.

We will miss you, but wish you everything of the best at the Dees.
Go well, Cap’n Jack.

Always a Saint. 🔴⚪⚫😇

Thanks Jack for choosing us as your destination club, when we weren't.
You were an estute pick-up at the time
Who knew that with only a few games behind you at Gws that you would become a respected 5 year captain, chosen by your teammates.
Thanks for all your hard grunt & accurate set-shot at goals.
Best wishes for your future.

P.S.
Glad you chose the Melbourne fc & not the Essendon rabble.
They are starting afresh & so are you.
Cheers

Good luck Jack. Been a tremendous player for us over the years. One of our best trades. Really put his body on the line for us. No wonder he got a bit banged up.

Some weeks it was just him keeping us in games. He really didn’t have much midfield support. Was a fixture more often than not in my SuperCoach teams. Hope the best for him.

It's a ruthless decision we've made, but... not necessarily a wrong one. We clearly wanted a leadership shift and maybe even a cultural shift, and it's hard to have a shift take hold with former leaders still there. We know Steele's body language has been a point of conversation for years now post-injuries. Still, for all of Steele's commitment and effort to us in our lowest years, I feel he deserved to stick around and see the brighter times. I imagine without the burden of leadership, he may have enjoyed the game more.

He's much appreciated and I hope he'll find some success at the Dees.
