Thanks Jack. There is a large part of me that feels like you've made one last giant sacrifice for our club. Gutted to be quite honest. You carried a big burden and smashed your body over and over.

Seriously wanted you to stay and see the rewards from your labour with our kids that you've played a massive part in developing. Good luck for the remainder of your playing career but please remember where your true home is.

A bit sad, however seeing him running around for the Dees is probably less sad than potentially watching him run around in the magoos.

Or doing just enough to get in the 23 while leaving Boxshall to run around in the VFL.

All the best Steeley. Your deeds for our club are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

Thank you Mr. Steele. You've helped slowly turn this stagnant club around with dedication selflessness and professionalism. I can see why the players voted you to be their leader for so many years, and thats from someone who has been deeply critical of your captaincy. Although in one sense you were not the captain we needed, in another sense you were perfect for the job, and im sure your successor will be partially modeling their term on your style.

It's a testament to how much your efforts were appreciated that so many posters here will reluctantly start to change their usernames and/or avatars!

I hope your arrival in the superman uniform at least partially offsets the loss of Oliver and Petracca - Dees fans can now enjoy a player that is the exact opposite of Clarry, they deserve it after a fraught few years.

I'm sure you'll always be welcome back at St Kilda and I hope the ruthless manner of your exit from Moorabbin doesn't cloud your love for the club.

You gave it all, thank you sir

Thought he had a bit more to give to be honest. I feel we've missed a trick by not moving him into the forward line and using him in the mids when a sobering and calm head may have been required. He wanted to stay...we should've honoured that, he deserved it.
I know we're being ruthless and a "serious football club," but I don't think this was the way to go about it.
Anyway...all the best Jack.
Cheers.

There’s gonna be a hell of a lot of dirty work that needs to be replaced. Hope the kids are up to it, better spend the summer practicing tackling.
I think that was one of the reasons the trade was a good idea. Nowhere to hide for the young'uns now!

For a team that seriously struggled with sticking tackles last year I hope this pans out.
I'm pretty salty and emotional about this move but hopefully can see reason soon enough.

Absolutely loved watching and knowing we had a 100% all in warrior on the park, will miss him greatly.
Quiet, reserved and as hard and unbending as Damascus steel(e).

Good luck and all the best fella.

Feel like we won’t really know how this played out for a few years, but it definitely stings. The fact we did the trade for bugger all compensation makes me think it was somewhat amicable and we basically said we would make any deal work for him if he could find one he liked.

He definitely pushed himself harder and carried more responsibility than most for the club. Hope he can get back to his best at the Dees.

Thanks Jack! Sad to see you go. Probably a reluctant captain and certainly not a natural captain but he led the club in magnificent style when there were very few stepping up to take on the responsibility. Sacrificed his own game playing injured when the team needed him. Led us through some down times but leaves us with many possible leaders coming through and some young blokes who have learnt about this AFL caper through his example.

Best of luck with the Dees!
