If he has some serious mental health concerns and requires medication, that can often cause weight gain. IDK if that is the case here, just offering a potential reason beyond he eat too much and lazy.

From all accounts Geeling are interested. Just not too interested to part with too much. With a good preseason he would still be a great player.
