Michael Hurley..... FMD.

Your turn.

My pleasure.

Still yet to answer why Watts has been dropped (and Hurley hasn't)

Still yet to answer why Watts has been subbed off for performance reasons (and Hurley hasn't)

Still yet to answer how Hurley has a top 3 B&F finish (and Watts doesn't)

Still yet to explain how Watts could be better than Hurley when Watts would be playing permanent VFL with Essendon

Still yet to answer how Hurley has noted scalps like Riewoldt x 2, Tredrea (and Watts has none)

Still yet to explain why Watts was pulled from a KP position because he couldn't perform there

not only is Watts a better player, but he also doesn't bash taxi drivers.

Another reason most people would have him ahead of Hurley

My previous contribution was more legit that anything you managed in a couple of completely one eyed biased paragraphs.

Anyone who would still take Watts over Hurley is completely delusional, and I'm not even a massive Hurley man.

At least Watts doesn't use PED's.

And he plays football better than Hurley and is younger sooooooo......

Sooooooo.....

Watts any day of the week. Hurley's a hack.

Hurley is better, but the margin is nowhere near as much as Essendon supporters like to think it is and if Watts is coached properly wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up the better player as neither are yet to reach great heights.
However this is assuming Hurley is persisted with as a forward when he is so much better in defence where he is a natural.

LOL right now Watts is better, just deal with it mate.

A few angry punters in this thread.

If Hurley was being played down back on a regular occurrence this wouldn't even be a thread, but he's not, so it is.

Watts has stood up the last few weeks and has been playing some pretty good football. After failing at playing the focal forward or defender it seems his best position is a utility, and it suits him. It lets him use his natural instinct around the ground without the worry of his man kicking a bag or someone shadowing him in the forward line.

Hurley, even with his injuries, has been poor this year. He looks lost up forward more than ever and can't seem to hold a mark to save himself. When back though he looks like the Hurley we Essendon supporters love. Aggressive, competent and rarely beaten. I'd imagine next season when Joe is a tad more built we'll see him and Carlisle become quite the scary duo in defence.

Right now, Hurley is ahead, only because I don't judge players in a 3 week period (I'm not Woona). He started stronger than Watts and only now is Jack starting to play consistent enough for this to be a popular topic once again.

It is good to see though that Jack is finally breaking out of the mind ****edness the media (and in some regard, Dees supporters) put him in during the beginning of his career. I hope for nothing better than him tearing up the comp for the years to come.

Yeah, surely this happens eventually.

Daniher will become the main target in time, Crameri is a good 2nd and with Bellchambers/Ryder rotating as the resting ruckman that looks pretty good IMO.

Maybe not next year, but certainly the year after when Daniher should be getting close to fully developed.

But who knows, maybe it clicks for Hurley up forward.

Jade - take note. This is how you discuss a topic in a mature fashion. See? It's actually possible to put forward that Hurley is a better player without acting like a bellend.

As for all your "Yet to answer"s, I really don't know why I"m bothering to invest the energy when it's clear you have no interest in proper discussion, but it's a slow day so:

1. Out of form (under Neeld)
2. Wasn't playing to expectations (under Neeld)
3. Acknowledged that it is a good effort for Hurley, but I wouldn't bang on about a high BnF finish. How he is he rated by the club and how he is rated externally are two completely separate things. You're acting as though everyone who finishes in a top five BnF is a bona fide superstar. There's also alot of honest plodders who get alot of votes. Hurley rates somewhere in between. Good effort nonetheless.
4. Opinion. So long as they could get used to the lack of puncture holes in his arm, I think he'd slot in just fine.
5. As has been established several times over in this thread, Hurley is a far more likely defender than Watts will ever be. That has been acknowledged. Therefore, claiming he's taken a couple of scalps as a defender is comparing apples with oranges (I'm also quietly wondering how old Tredrea was when he was supposedly dominated by Hurley. I hope he was able to contend with the zimmer frame..)
6. Repeating yourself. Neeld saw fit to shift him around in the name of development. At 22 I think you'll begin to see him look far more settled.

I can't believe how wrong I've been!

Can we trade Hurley for Watts?

Imagine how awesome we'd be with that competitive beast in our side!

He's out of contract isn't he? Do it Bombers. Make it happen. Of course we may have to throw in a sweetener. As we know, as Watts struggles to hold a spot in the Melbourne side; so clearly Hurley wouldn't be getting a gig. But geez; he'd be an absolute dead cert for our B&F! Matter of fact it's a testament to how monumentally shit our list is that Hurley can get a podium spot at our B&F. FMD the unholy levels of AWESOME you must have on your list that Watts cant do the same at Melbourne! We need to throw some cash at your list management team - man they could morph us into a flag contender.

Unfortunately we'd have to send Daniher back to the twos though. No way he gets a spot ahead of our star recruit. Hell, we may have to trade out Crameri as well; just wouldn't be needed with Watts holding the fort like a boss.

Curse you Melbourne, curse you! You could have let Watts slip; we could have jagged him at five. Christ you got a bargain with him - easily the best number one pick I've ever seen. I bet GWS are spewing. If only Watts had been the available star at the time instead of Patton....

Watts for Hurley - Come on Bombers; do it. The supporter base will love you for it.

Starting next season, Hurley actually WOULD be depth at the MFC. Simply no room for him either forward or back.

Dawes is a better forward than Hurley right now.

And yes, Tom McDonald, Colin Garland and James Frawley are our tall backs, can't see him replacing any of them

Disagree on both counts. There absolutely no way Mcdonald is anywhere near as good as Hurley and most people would prefer Hurley at CHF with Clark taking the best defender.

Oh no doubt.

I can't tell you how how bitter I am when I cast my eye enviously over the mountain of talent on Melbourne's list. Hurley would have a long career with Casey if he was with you blokes.
