i don't want to burst your bubble guys but don't forget that we got rid of him for a reason.

he has played 1 good season in 9 seasons, he came 21st in our best and fairest this year and gets dropped to our reserves team at least once a season.

There are a lot of melbourne fans that bemoan this trade but you don't hear from the supporters that are thrilled of his departure.

He doesn't go hard at the ball, sit under high balls and tackle with intensity. the reason he gets ignored by teammates is because he has no onfield presence. he only averages 2 inside 50 kicks a game and 8 in total so don't expect too much link up. he is a straight kick but just dont expect him to go and get the ball.

Yeah. We probably need to take our teal glasse off a little, but given our 2nd tall forward is 19 years old and weighs about 88kgs, we're pretty bloody hopefull.

This is all time dream team stuff happening now at port. It’s like we’re getting the band back together. The old fashioned port premiership winning band.

Isn't it good that we've got Dixon who does go hard at the ball, does sit under high balls and does tackle with intensity, who has onfield presence up the wazoo?

Watts complements Dixon perfectly.

He won't have to be the player at Port that he needed to be at Melbourne.

We've got him for a very specific need and it just so happens that he fills it perfectly.

Will be a much better player at PAFC and that is based on his efforts this year added to our system next year.

The fact that as a general rule players improve when coming to PAFC, will take him to elite status if this trend continues with him.

38 goals, 20 assists last year and 5th in the best and fairest
20 goals from first 12 games this year (before injury)

suffer in ya jocks mate.

Reckon we'll see the best of Watts at Port.

For all of Ken Hinkley's tactical faults as a coach, the one thing that he's ****ing excellent at is getting players to believe in themselves. That could be all Jack Watts needs.

I was happy to trade Watts as long as we got a decent return - which we didn't! Well done Port.

Really like Jack as a bloke (from afar) and while he has his deficiencies (consistency, 100% competitiveness 100% of the time), his best attributes are gold. If he's not in the best handful of kicks in the comp, I'll eat my hat, and he's so creative with ball in hand.

Hope he has a stinker every time he plays us but otherwise has a really good career with you blokes.

Melbourne were never going to get a good deal for him as they were not interested in retaining him. Hard to get value for something that you dont want.

Requesting gif version of this for my new avatar Alyx

Apparently Port Power did some really lame powerpoint preso for Jack Watts to convince him to play for them. No word of a lie, it went something like this: Slide 1: "PORT POWER FORWARD LINE" ... Slide 2: "WESTHOFF"...Slide 3: "DIXON"...Slide 4: "WAAATTTTSSSSS" with a big zoom into Watts with power guernsey on. Could that mob get any more lame? Lol

I know people think I'm taking the mick but this is actually what went down according to JW.
I gave it my best shot

And the previous 7 years?

Like I said, we chose to get rid of him. It was a choice. Geelong weren't willing to part with pick 19 or 21. That says something.

You can give me all the stats you like. I've seen Watts closely for 9 seasons. I don't think he'll even make your 22. Depends how much you can put up with him squibbing contests. Watts would've gone years ago but kept getting saved by new coaches in Neeld, Bailey, Roos etc. who all wanted a crack at getting him to compete. None of them could.

All the best to him though

Yeah, amateur stuff from our backroom team. Similar to Stringer at the Dogs - we lost all bargaining power once we let the world know we were happy for him to leave.

He doesnt need to come out and kick 50 goals for this to be a successful move. All he needs to do is take pressure off Dixon athletically for this to be a big win. Dixon can concentrate on going into beast mode inside 50 without having to run up and down the field 200 times a match. That alone will make this a big win for us. If he can kick 30 goals next year and in turn, see someone like Marshall kick similar then i'll be very very very happy

Trying to make it sound like our trade doesn't mean anything, that we just got a player they had to get rid of.

I didn't think of the "Stupid" angle ;)

Macca - can you foresee all three of watts Dixon and Marshall playing ? I sure hope so.

However, surely then Hoff may miss.

Also - you reckon watts may ruck a little ?
