Giving up pick 31 in a draft with only really a good 1st 25 players to pick.

This trade is basically a free hit not to mention the dees are paying some of his contract as well.

Moneyball type trade . Cheap and his strengths fill our weaknesses that need filling.

9/10 trade

Our first no. 1 draft pick IIRC, even if he is second hand. IMO a really important pickup if he can recapture his 2016 form. Hopefully the change of club does for him what it did for Schultz.

Jack Watts is already my favourite player because his trade helped me get my most liked post ever.

This guy is gonna feature prominently on this board for years to come.

Look, I'll come out and say it. He's coming to Ports because of this post...

It's funny how supporters love players that love their club isn't it?

It seems like Melbourne FC broke Jacks heart when they told him 1 year away from life membership that they didn't want him. It would also seem to me that he is the perfect fit for Port Adelaide.

Club and team first.

Let's give him lots of love and judging by his comments on NTUA it won't take long for him to be PAFC to his core.

Let's back Jack.
Amen. Seems like Jack was a guy destined to see out his career at the Demons for better or worse, particularly after he rejected free agency. I hope he adopts the club and its values in the face of what is probably a heartbreaking rejection from Melbourne.

I'm confident that he will be a good player for you guys. Not just because that would be typical of Melbourne but because I think that he already is a good player and that he plays his best footy when the coach is relentlessly positive about him.

I honestly reckon those of you who get along to Adelaide Oval regularly will enjoy watching him the most. He is a great player to watch live IMO, one of the smartest players I've seen he's always getting into good positions and obviously uses the footy really well. These past four or five years I've never really understood the critics of his work ethic, he is a hard runner who covers a lot of ground and can ruck as well as play in defence when trying to shut a game down/hold a lead in the dying minutes. He can sometimes lack intensity in the contest I suppose, but as long as he's just expected to play a role rather than be All-Australian I think his strengths will more than cover his weaknesses. I'd expect him to be in the top 10 in your B&F for the next four or five years which is a lot more than I can say of pick 31...

I'll miss seeing him in the red and blue and I hope he has success at your club.
Port supporters have been suitably prepped with Justin Westhoff's demeanor
