Wingard looks trim and fit under hawks management. Funny that.

That's on Wingard, not the club. He's admitted as much privately.

Look, i'm one who doesn't actually give a shit if players take recreational drugs.

That's not what the problem is here.
He is publicly toxic.
This absolutely impacts on our sponsorship, particularly when it's already a hard sell due to lack of national exposure etc.

Remember Koch's 'zero tolerance' statements?
Well, now is the time to make the point.

IMO, a 3 game club suspension at a minimum.

AFLPA will huff and puff, but ultimately won't do anything because they don't want Pandora opening her box.

I’m weary of punishing a player who hasn’t broken any rules. I’m even more weary of punishing a player to a greater extent than Mumford who snorted actual cocaine.

The AFLPA should be duty bound to fight this if there is a punishment because no rules were broken and there is no set precedent for dealing with what Watts did.

Probably tells a lot about Ken Hinkley more than anything else. If he can't get the players motivated to get the best out of themselves, who can?

Gee what a huge surprise, disgruntled player whose ego gets hurt at the end of season review with coach demands a trade, then goes to another club and gets super fit (which was probably the feedback he was so upset about).
Wowee, that’s only happen at Hawthorn.
Yeah, right.

Did Watts do anything illegal/banned - No
Did Watts do this while playing for Port - No
Does this have bad optics - Yes
Does this have the potential to negatively impact Port Adelaide - Yes
Did the timing of the video release have this aim in mind - Possibly

Should we react every time a legal action by one of our players with "bad optics" is dredged up from before they represented us with the intent to damage us?

**** no. Hold Strong. Us against the rest.
Agree to a point but it's not a good look for young kids that follow our misguided club.

> go hell for leather on the community angle and make it less football focused
> end up doing neither

Mediocre in every single facet.

Oktoberfest 2018 finished on the 7th of October, a few weeks before the text messaging saga came out. If the club asked him if there is anything else that they should know about he obviously didn't tell them...

****ing sack the sack.

This all happened around the time of the "swimming and ****" thing last October.

Since then he has pulled his head in. Regurgitating old news here guys. Don't get sucked into believing that this has just happened and that he hasn't learned his lesson.

Bad look - you bet.
But done and dusted 4 months ago. Old news.
Move on.

Did SPP actually do anything that got him suspended for 3 games?

I backed the club's move with regards to Wingard, but I can't continue to back it when this shit is going on as well. You move someone like Wingard on when you are out of options, not when he's underperforming for being overweight and lazy when you have blokes writing themselves off on drugs and alcohol, wrecking their shoulders and so on because muh outside of football interests.

Guy who got Wingard sacked complains about Wingard getting sacked.

It's friggin legal and drug free. He's going to get a bigger rush eating a freddy frog. It's not Jack Watts fault that Melbourne drafted him at 1 a long time ago. Sheesh.

Wiesn koks is harmless. Sure, you get a small sugar rush when it hits, and the menthol has a cooling, sinus-clearing effect, but that’s about it. Wiesn koks is entirely drug and tobacco free.

Afl players have mad monday after a shit season. They have end of season trips to celebrate the season. If the worst thing that happened on these trips was snorting some sugar then that would be awesome. They are sponsored by breweries, wineries and shit fast food. The afl encourages gambling on the sport. They take money off pokies. They enrich themselves through conflicts of interest. They have a boys club which exploits females in the workforce.

Sport celebrates success by spraying champagne at people and getting pissed. Here's a picture of scott lycett pouring west end into a premiership cup. Is that going to cost sponsors? Let us and the sponsors moralise about a dude snorting some sugar. Chad Wingard got injured when Hawthorn tried to work on his tank. He didn't look to be in better shape than aj a couple of weeks ago.

If it’s a legal substance as claimed I don’t think they can suspend him.

They can for bringing the game into disrepute.

Exactly. This isn’t like he ignored feedback from the swimming and **** issue.

He has been filmed doing something perfectly legal, without the video being public at the time.

He then gets outed by his girlfriend for the messages he has sent. Bad PR happens and we all worry/melt/laugh whatever.

Everyone comments on the focus and application at training and not cracking a smile.

Footage now comes out.

Only thing the club can do is slap on the wrist for not telling them about it in late October, when they no doubt read the riot act. Keeping in mind he may have been that drunk he doesn’t remember specifically doing something legal.

He may have told the club about it beforehand and it is dealt with (see the focus at training).

No way will he be sacked. See Mumford penalty.

This comes out at the same time Ben Barba in the NRL has been sacked after breaching a behaviour clause specifically in his contract for past issues (ie DV) whereby he appears to have committed the same offence publicly.

Jack has every right to think the world a little unfair to have a legal act cause bad PR for him, after it may have appeared he has straightened up some.

It’s not that bad, a Richmond player sent around a pic of a women’s ****. Players have done worse.

Snorting a legal substance of a women’s **** who is clearly happy about it isn’t grounds for dumping by him.

Not in the same league as the Mumford video.

Someone else! Someone else!
