It was either his fifth or sixth - set shot 40 metres out on the outer boundary - took his time and just eased it through the middle - no tightness and never in doubt. There was also some nice footage of him on the bench having a laugh with Jake Neade. He’s a Melbourne silver spooner by birth but I’m hoping and I’m sensing that our great working class club will be the making of Jack Watts.

Can assure you that a silver-spooner he ain't. Both parents were ten-pound poms as children.

Fair enough - he was a Brighton Grammar boy though - maybe a sports scholarship - and port adelaide is a long way from the private school / melbourne football club environment that he would have known for the last 15 years.

Any signs yet of an understanding developing between him & Charlie? They both seem to have an enormous amount of football nous - positioning, where & when to lead etc. As others have said, Charlie seemed to take their only remaining half-decent defender right out of the game. There may well be other times when the roles are reversed.
With all these recruits it's largely a matter of how they gel with their teammates. Got the feeling there was a lot of gelling on Saturday (including with Motlop & Barry).
Liked the way that Polec found him in space a couple of times. That rarely happened at Melbourne.
