Because he's still in primary school apparently. School finishes at 3:30pm on weekdays, so he doesn't get to training in time. Has to train with Billy and Thommy from his class at recess. They are only 10 but give him plenty of challenge.

Two words: search function.

He was injured over pre-season, and hence lacks match fitness. He is in the process of gaining said fitness in the VFL with Casey, and should (god willing) be playing for Melbourne within a few weeks.

Can someone please count up all the threads called "Jack Watts" that have appeared on this board? Like, ever? It seems like there is a new one, on the same sh1t, every week.

I'd love to see a popup message saying

"There is already a thread title named Jack Watts, do you want to rename your thread?"

Had 20 odd touches for Casey in their win on saturday night.

Patience please. Bailey has already said he wants Watts to have 3/4 decent games for Casey first.
22 touches, 7 marks, 2 behinds appartently.

Played very well apparently and was named in the bests, a good effort in round 1. Hopefully we will see him playing for Melbourne within the next 3 weeks.

The more games Jack plays for Casey, the better.

He wont make a hell of a lot of difference to our side
this year.

Being under a lot of pressure, I hope he stays in the VFL
for most the year - and we unveil more of him next year.

:thumbsu::thumbsu: exactly this.

Can Newton hurry up and do something amazingly stupid on-field? Bailey needs an excuse to replace him with Watts... ASAP please DB, release the Messiah. Judging by reports of his game last night, he seems pretty much ready to go... even more so if DB plays him as a genuine FF as i hope he will (pipe dreams for now i think.)

Looking for Watts to play this week. Needs to play alongside Newton though IMO so Juice's body takes a man off him. Playing in a winning side who want to win again would be perfect for Jack who played well for Casey

Would love to see Jack this week myself, played well for Casey and we have Richmond... I just want to see our No1 pick from 2008 out on the park. Would be a bit of lift for us supporters too see him running around for us.

Juice is a bit weak, love his effort chasing the ball but he wasnt there for the marks that i saw. Should of taken a couple of easy ones which would of set us up.

According to Schwabby Jack will play at Casey until round 5/6 then come into selection criteria. I think this is the right thing to do he hasnt played a huge amount of football this year/last year or in his life so let him get some touch and play good footy then promote him for a period of time.

Get him out there!

Doesn't have to play the sole tall forward role, but get him out there as soon as possible.

We are practically playing with 21 players whenever Newton is in the team so why not play him & in turn have 22 players?:D

I'd like to see him play as a key forward for Casey instead of this wing/flank crap. He's going to be playing as one for the next 10 years so why not teach him a few things while he's playing for Casey?

Im sure he'll end up in the goalsquare and at CHF but his body is pretty skinny for a key forward role. Playing him up the ground until he's 21 or so is giving him experience and probably preserving his body as well.

Yeah no doubt thats what they are trying to do, but really just because you don't have the body doesn't mean you automatically are useless as a KP forward, Westhoff in 07 was a great example and would have been Cale Mortons weight i'd think (albeit in a much better team than ours and with Tredrea to take the heat off him)

Jack just needs to play footy, whether it be Casey or for us.

Whereas we have others on our list that we need to play this
year aswell - to see whether they get the chop or not, eg:
Dunn, Newton, Bate, Miller.

Im not making excuses for Watts, but realistically he is only
as old as the new draftees, so why bring him in the side early,
just because of the pressure, we done that last year and look
how that ended up..

Id let Jack string some games together in Casey, until he maintains
form and stays sound.

He needs to get his engine up. People thought Bate and Bruce (interupted pre-seasons) looked slow in the first few games. Watts has played sfa matches (over the last *year*) and had an interrupted pre-season.

True. I dont think he'd be useless in a KPF role either. In fact I think he'd probably be a better target than either of Newton, Miller or Martin which are the guys we've been going with this pre/season up until now.

I dont think its a bad move to give him some experience up the ground now though - I wouldnt even mind if he played a few games in defence as well tbh.
