I'm the type that say Jimmy Sellar plays against us and has a shocker, ideally on tex who has kicked 8, given off 3 but only has 1 tackle...

"Oi Neil, Jimmy kept Tex boundary side all game, time to change tactics?"

Or hopefully something alot funnier than that.. but its very dependent on the situation.

Something like Reiwoldt lining up for goal last year and taking an eternity..

"Oi Nick.. whatcha waiting for? Someone to take a photo?!?!"

They've chosen to be public figures and no matter how much Neil put into the club he had some fundamental flaws that have hurt the club as well.

If Bernie cops it for having an acquaintance pissing on a machine and being too much of a party boy, then Neil cops it for being to stubborn/arrogant and spiralling our last two seasons into diaster zones.

Straight up boo'ing typically only reserved for opposition goal kicking or those truly drawing negative attention to themselves ;)

"Come back & bite us" kind of implies we let him go rather than him quitting on us.

Of course it will probably bite you but what could you do about it? He played plenty of games last year, showed good form, was clearly in Adelaides plans moving forward and would have definitely played 22 games this year. But if he wants to leave because he "didnt like what he was becoming" then what can you do. The excuse still makes me chuckle in disbelief.

Whether the huge changes to the list will come off, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think you did the right thing in trying to get a bunch of talented guys at the club through inspired trading. Whether they realise that talent and get you into the finals regularly will be the key.

There aren't many players who leave a club with a comment like that and go on to become elite players. Why? Its symptomatic of weakness and immaturity.

I totally get the anger directed at Davis and believe that people are entitled to show it in whatever way they see fit. My only question would be, what would you have done in the same situation?

I am more angry at the system that allowed it to happen.

Jack Gunston is a different scenario. I wish him misfortune.

At the end of the day, just because the system allowed it, doesn't mean that he didn't have a choice.

I've posted my views on this a few times before, but for mine, his options were to stay with the AFC and get paid extremely good money (above and beyond what we would have ever paid any other comparable player in the past) and in turn, provide the AFC with some return on investment it made into him as a high draft pick.

Or he could could have left for stupid amounts of money, and in the process, screw over the team that invested into him and fostered his development into the AFL system and rehabilitated him from serious injury.

Either option sees him do extremely well for himself finanically - far better than most other people his age (and most other people, period). Only one option leaves his integrity in tact.

Like Wall-E, it doesn't help my assessment of the situation though that he was one of my favourite players.

I am not one to wish injuries on others, but I wouldn't be sad if Davis' shoulders ended up popping out more often the Porps.

I also hope Gunston fades into obscurity - Or atleast plays shockers against the Crows.

In terms of Bock, I'm kinda glad he is gone, find it hard to like guys who slug their girlfriends - Also, I wonder whether or not the fact that Davis was lining up to take his position helped Bock make his decision at all (obviously not knowing that Davis would do the same thing a year later) ?

Your attutitude, if it is genuine, really lacks class, let alone fairness, good manners and any trace of empathy to another.

I can assure you my attitude is 100% genuine. I will boo him with gusto when he walks onto AAMI stadium. His legacy will be 2 good years at the helm (apart from finals) and then disaster. On the field he turned the club into a soft, aggressionless outfit who were punished and publically ridiculed on the rare occasion when they did finally show any form of aggression. He single handedly managed to lose finals off his own boot -Massie/Franklin - Jericho/Geelong GF. Off the field, his training regime was a disaster. Not only did it ruin seasons and finals campaigns, but it also had a shocking effect on the bodies of our players.

What you say, may have validity and levels of truth to it and I have no qualms with that - I may even agree, on may points and some of your opinions, but to say;

When Melbourne come to town and NC walks onto AAMI stadium, I will be really pissed off if the AFC supporterbase dont boo him with all their hearts. The real King of Spin should have been run out of town.

I stand by with what I said;

"Your attutitude, .....really lacks class, let alone fairness, good manners and any trace of empathy to another".

Your need to encourage others - to incite, would probably be to strong - to participate in such a public matter of ill will and petulance, I find utterly perplexing.:thumbsd:

Anyone not playing for/employed by the Crows is free to be booed. They are the enemy.

Apart from a few exceptions, say guards of honour for retirement games.

I'm not saying people have to boo, but who cares if they do? The people getting booed sure don't.

Plus, it's fun. :D

pre-season GF in what.. 2006? Maybe 08 actually? Cant remember but was definitely pre-season and he was just left on the ground when he was getting a bath with millions of suddsy bubbles.. some might argue totally destroyed his confidence. Others would say it was his last chance and he failed.

In the long term, I don't think either of those to going will haunt us. In losing both of those players we now have the makings of an exceptional midfield ( which we don't have at the moment and it shows by our results).

Gunston will be a good player but I don't think he'll ever be a KPP and third talls aren't that hard to come by.

As for Davis, firstly I have no issue with him going, it isn't the five year deal but him being set for life in his law career that would have made his decision because in the end he'll make far more out of that than the football. I also think that a kid who has managed to get on the park about 20% of the time in his last 4 years isn't the guy you want to be making a team around.

If there is one legacy that Craig left us with, it is ample talls to cover the losses we have had in the last 2 years. I think we cover CHB and third floating talll/afraid of a contest quite well. As much as it would be nice to have those two, I think we have filled a hole quite well, it'll just take 2-3 years for it to pay off. Just looking at our list 23 and under makes me think we'll be OK soon enough

23: Henderson, Jacobs, Jenkins, Mackay, Martin, Dowdell ®
22: Jaensch, Otten, Petrenko, Sloane, Wright, McIntyre ®
21: Dangerfield, Johnston, Lynch, McKernan, L. Thompson, Walker, Young ®
20: Riley, Shaw, Smith, Talia, Craig ®
19: Brown, Ellis-Yolmen, Grigg, Lyons, Martyn ®
18: Crouch, Joyce, Kerridge, Laird ®, Orval ®

Obviously I don't include Hendo as the future

Name one player who has walked out on his club in a similar way who ever turned out to be anything.

Scott Thompson? Shane O'Bree? Paul Licuria? Fergus Watts :D
