Yeah I watched it another 6 min I have wasted instead of Study. I like these little insights we are getting into the team and the life of an AFL footballer. Not as funny as the others though, hopefully something from the brissy trip.

Yep, it is basic food nutrition but I bet many mid 20's blokes probably wouldn't know, or they don't want to know.

Interesting to hear them talk about not eating cereal with high sugar contents but yet they drink Poweraide which has 33% more sugar then Gatoraide.

Must be because they sponsor the AFL.

There's not much point buying a sugar free sports drink.
A sugar free sports drink is more commonly called "water".

You'd be suprised, I'm in my early 20's and I have a comprehensive knowledge of basic food nutrition as well as sport nutrition. Most guys my age would to.

As long as you burn the sugars you're consuming, you're covered, as Axel says, he drinks it on the way, ensuring he's hydrated and energised. High sugar food and drink have a high glycemix index (GI) which basically means your body metabolises or breaks down that type of sugar faster, hence the sugar high because it's metabolised faster. Seeing as they're actually burning that energy, and will continue to drink sports drink, they need to replace lost carbs (sugars) as well as essential nutrients and minerals (as they like to call, electrolytes). If you don't have enough sugars, your body starts to break down less easily metabolised energy sources (i.e. fat and muscle = bad).

High sugar cereal is bad because that sugar isn't used and is resultantly stored as fat.

Powerade is called "Isotonic" because it contains a similar level of sugar and salts as the blood, hence it is absorbed into the body far faster.
