Jacko

Holds the record for most consecutive games while kicking one or more goals from debut - held goalless for the first time in his 80th game and only played two more matches.

Fair to say there wasn't the same emphasis on defence back then as now - especially against Melbourne and St.Kilda - but his record of 82 games/308 goals stacks up pretty well.
That's a pretty cool record actually

I worked a sportsman's night that he was at and he explained that the night he got told he was emergency for the grand final at Richmond, he went out to his car, got a pair of bolt cutters and went underneath Roach's car where he proceeded to cut Roach's brakes.

Tony Jewell came out and caught him in the act. While Jacko was laying on the ground under the car, Jewell stood on Jacko's aggots and told him to piss off and that he was never allowed back at Richmond.

He is crazy. It was no act that he put on.

I don't give that one much credence. Would've been several ahead of him in the pecking order at that stage.

Edit: This is the first I've heard of Jacko being an "emergency" for the GF. The team named mid-week to meet the Football Record printing deadline included Scrimshaw, Collins and Nugent on the extended bench. Two porkies for the price of one.

Some of the amateur psychiatry in here is laughable.

Jacko's a lot of things... an entertainer, an individual (yes) and not a team man, holds grudges, a bulllshit artist, extremely funny, shameless, an attention seeker, physically huge and ugly, etc etc etc... but he's not a certified psychopath ffs, and not even close.

He maybe an idiot, lazy and a communist

But one thing is for sure, jacko is definitely not a pornstar

so he taught lockett how to kick at goal i call bullshit

A bit hard to believe seeing as Lockett was a sensational kick right from the time he was a teenager.

That's like the time on TV Warwick Capper was giving advice to Jason Dunstall on how to improve his game. The look on Dunstall's face was hilarious. :)

I thought Mike handled it very poorly TBH.

Jacko was trolling big time and Mike got sucked in way too easily.

For example, Mike attempting to justify why people don't hate him. How long has Mike been doing interviews for? Should have known better.

Jacko grew up the son of a union rep. Zero respect for people in authority or power.
I reckon Sheahan was rattled, but worked his way through what was a very difficult interview, it's not everyday you are confronted with someone who wishes you death by Cancer. I think he held his nerve well, he had a show to complete and he could easily have told Jacko to piss off i'm cutting this BS and we're outta here, but he stuck at it. If that's Jacko's act he can shove it up his arse sideways!

not sure that challenges my point, which was simply you shouldnt excuse poor behavior because someone elses behavior is even poorer.

on the 'face re-arranging', if someone said that to me, id probably chalk them down as a spiteful moron and move on. 're-arranging someones face' is, in my opinion, never cool. and id rather not inflict suffering and medical bills, risk being flogged myself in return or face jail time over something ridiculous and petty said by 'a complete dill'. but as you said, agree to disagree.

on a more general note, i have no time for or interest in mark jackson.
On that i agree, but the vitriolic attack and wish for death by "Cancer" ended it all for me with Jacko. What a vile thing to say, human emotions sometimes get the better of us all, imagine meeting someone from your past who said that to you in the street....it's easy to say "just walk away" but it could go either way? I reckon if Sheahan had popped Jacko a judge might've let him off?

It might be performance enhancing fighting of two or three coppers in a street fight

But seriously running flat out and kicking a ball ....no ...our game is about precision not beating the crap out of someone

Boxing ....again ....very simple sport you have one opponent to beat

After cousins and Kerr were exposed they were target tested by the afl .....counsels was tested on game days more than any other player

The cumulative effect of meth on an elite athlete isn't great ...

Meth is very prevalent in rural Australia ...dealers target these areas.
Meth is performance enhancing in the right doses, long term abuse of it is not. Saying meth is not performance enhancing is incorrect. Why must people assume that the symptoms of long term abuse of a drug are the only possible outcome.

I'm not saying any AFL player has used meth in a performance enhancing way, just that they could.

Mike knew if he pushed Jacko he would have walked and wanted the interview ...

Mike was told to do the interview by his employer. And Jacko was paid - apparently contravening the show's policy of not paying guests.

Jacko had Sheahan in a corner. Was apparently amicable enough in the "warm up" before the cameras started rolling. Bit smarter than some have given him credit for.

No ...Mike Sheehan is a a dead set flog

I hope he comes to wa ...Id suggest he walk with a body guard

I enjoyed seeing Sheehan get some of his own medicine and he was exposed for what he is ...a gutless little turd

Well done jacko

Why? Sheahan's probably been to WA dozens of times in the past 10-15 years. If Jakovich is quite prepared to be civil and respectful to him, why wouldn't the Joe Blow Sandgropers in the street? A bodyguard...FMD, some people need to get a grip.

Questions like the ones that he posed to Jakovich (and similar curly ones that he asks pretty much everyone who appears) and more importantly, the responses, are what makes Open Mike worthwhile viewing.

It was fascinating to watch, I actually feel that Sheahan had the better of him, Jacko pumped his chest out and threw insult and after insult at him and Sheahan was able to roll with it all pretty much, Jacko said some pretty ordinary things and he may well have made an impact on Sheahan internally, externally he didn't show much at all, he stuck to the agenda and kept asking questions, even doubling back over stuff which seemed to piss Jacko off even more, to use the boxing analogy, Jacko spent the whole time swinging haymakers while failing to really land a decent blow while Sheahan dodged and weaved and even managed to counter with some cheeky ones of his own.
I also found it very interesting how whenever Sheahan asked Jacko to clarify one of his "statements" he either couldn't or was unwilling to but he was absolutely able to call upon specifics when it was favourable to him e.g. When he had his number one hit or how many goals he kicked etc.
He really strikes me as a bloke who is just angry with the whole world, blaming it for his own failings, it's almost like he has developed this generalised hatred for people like Sheahan but he is unable to actually articulate why he has this hate.

I'm not a fan of plenty of journalists/ media personalities but the level of hatred spewed forth by some posters on here is absurd.

Especially with Coleman in second place.

That is impressive

The other thing he did was play in a winning Geelong side in the 80s against Carlton ( when they were dominant ) at Princess Park which was as rare as hens teeth - might have been the only time - and actually kicked 6 goals which is a pretty good effort

You have to take the good and the bad with him - knocking out Robbie Flower ( his captain ) and wanting to knock out Healy ( because he beat him in the goal kicking ) is crazy stuff - along those lines - went to a Geelong inter club practise match - and they had to actually bring the game to a halt at one point - to separate him and Malarkey - more crazy stuff

However as a footballer he had a reasonable record - because he wasnt quick - however he was rat cunning - he knew where the goals were - and he was a very reliable/accurate kick for goal

Complete and utter FLOG of the highest order.
Was liked by nobody in the VFL or football in general and still isnt.
Was a nuisance on the field and a nuisance to the general public right up until Energizer batteries stopped using him for advertising.
He is a simpleton and as dumb as dogshit.
Should have been locked up.
