Playing the nutter is Jacko's act, always has been.

His dislike of Sheahan is genuine though, have no doubt about that.

It's interesting how age and time have mellowed Sheahan into this kind of harmless old grandfather, interviewing legends etc. In his day he was a king muckraker and (Jacko was absolutely right about this) a VFL/AFL lackey who did what he was told and used his influence to further their interests. He was every bit as despised as Caro and Barrett widely are now.

A good example is Sheahans role in getting rid of Fitzroy, which interestingly Jacko touched on very briefly.

Exactly. Old Grandpa Mike forgets that anyone over 40 with half a memory intact still remembers the muckraking mindless word drool he dished out in the 80s and 90s on players and clubs all in the name of 'investigative journalism'.

I don't wish the bloke cancer of the finger by any stretch..but #### him.

Was good to see Mike squirm....even though after he recovers from copping a bit back for once, he will be breathing a sigh of relief that his dying show got a lil bit of a heart start after the borefest it has lately been as he runs out of robots(as Jacko would say) to interview.

He is crazy but he plays it up big time, knew exactly what he was doing. Will make $100k + from the extra work he will generate from it.

He was spot on with many comments , especially about Sheahan being a paid lacky for the VFL/AFL .

Mike wants to be liked which is interesting.

Absolute classic.

A lot of people too young that not from the 1980's footy era would have no idea whom Jacko was saying turned white after he interviewed Jacko. This is the Rudi he said turned white....lol

The problem with people like Jacko is that in amongst all the self-serving, victimised, bragging bullshit that he spouts, there are some nuggets of truth and definite intelligence. Same with people like Trump, Pauline Hanson, Nigel Farage and all the other idiots.

But broadly, you can see why four clubs let him go. As good as he was, people like that are a destabilising influence. A football team is a communal endeavour. If one of your team is whacking Robbie Flower during a practice match, how can you keep them around?

It was interesting to see Mike come up with a different ending than his usual "You're entitled to be proud of what you've achieved, etc..." though
 
I'll admit, SOME of his points are valid about how the AFL is run and the commercialization and so on but the guys attitude and the fact he has zero remorse for his blatantly thuggish behavior, not to mention the fact he takes a dump on all the guys who play today because they don't go around whacking guys for looking at them funny (Or even deliberately injuring a teammate at training because he was a threat to his position for ****s sake) is disgusting and everything wrong with the older eras of sport.

Gotta love how anyone who didn't agree with him or didn't play the same way as him has 'no idea' about the game. Seems like his biggest issue is the fact that players welfare is a primary concern in the modern climate and that players have to be athletically talented as well as a gifted football player (And ideally not a thug who plays asinine pranks like putting a brick behind guys break pedals)

Quite interesting and funny at same time. All within a minute he can say some of craziest uncaring shit out, talk shit and just plain abuse for the hell of it and then also throw in something very insightful and honest that rings a lot of truth about both AFL, clubs, journalists, players , fans, himself and the game itself. What he said about John Devine, bloody hilarious and probably dead on the mark.
Luke Darcy he is not and thank god for that.
Just glad he has not been medicated.
Has some views I certainly do not agree with but a breath of fresh air of not conforming to saying what people want to hear.

Said he was a mercenary and indeed he was when he played but gee, he got St.Kilda to a tee. I remember in the 80's and early 90's I had a soft spot for St.Kilda but eventually I saw the truth they were a self destructive club and soft spot went and that lack of success they had was brought on by themselves.

Even though in his own way he was entertaining in his time he was also a major distraction for whatever club he was with at any time.
I certainly did not miss him as was more interested in the footy and game than the theatrics.
He was certainly not going to help Melbourne improve as a team even though he had talent.
Melbourne got Kelvin Templeton and Peter Moore in, and Templeton took Jacko spot.
He was actually right what he said about Templeton though. Templeton to Melbourne was damaged goods. Was a shadow of the gun Brownlow winning full forward he was at Dogs.

I will say this though.

a) Like many have said, while his dislike of Mike is clearly real, the way he was gibbering on was obviously playing it up. He even slipped a few looks down the camera during it to indicate that was the case.

b) I really enjoyed the opportunity to see Mike getting all sooky. He really is incredibly thin-skinned. Why would anyone care if someone this foolish says they don't like you over and over again? That interview was one step up from being abused by a crazy homeless guy on the street. The fact that Mike got so stroppy about Jacko saying he didn't like him repeatedly was hilarious. And I particularly liked Mike bristling about how he's spoken to 150 of the game's greatest figures and was the chief football writer for the major paper in Victoria etc. I couldn't disagree more with the poster who earlier said that most people would have walked out. Most people I know wouldn't have taken Jacko even slightly seriously and would have laughed it all off. Mike really showcased why Clarkson calls him "precious". And that alone was worth tolerating all of Jacko's nonsensical ravings. We learnt more about Mike than Jacko during that interview.
 
I'm no Sheahan fan, but some credit to him for broadcasting the interview, and not editing out the many references to Jacko's hate for him, and that of others in football.

Also haven't seen Mike look that uncomfortable since the Tuddy interview.:oops:
