He is he reason we have that bloody annoying chant Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi. It was taken from his energizer tv ads where he used to yell "oi"!!! At the end of it. For that reason alone I will never like him.

Pretty sure it comes from a pommie soccer chant.

Think the UK one is oggy oggy oggy oi oi oi. I first heard it in an Ashes series in the early 80's. Australia were out in the field and I couldn't figure out why the pommie crowd wanted Rodney Hogg - because he wasn't playing - although he was on that tour. I thought maybe he was in the crowd or something and they were winding him up - but apparently the chant goes way back, maybe centuries.

I believe it's etymology is actually from UK race riots and was initially

'Kick out all the Pakis! Oi Oi Oi!'

I'm pretty sure that it goes way back to Cornish miners - Tidley Oggys are cornish pasties. At lunch time normally the women would go to the entrance of the mine and yell out 'Oggy Oggy Oggy' to let them know lunch had arrived. The miners would respond 'Oi Oi Oi' to let them know that they heard.

Cornish pasties (Tidley Oggies) have that distinctive crust along the top so the miners could use it as a handle, which they afterwards threw away, so they could eat their oggy and not get it filthy with their dirty hands

His dislike of Sheahan is genuine though, have no doubt about that.

It's interesting how age and time have mellowed Sheahan into this kind of harmless old grandfather, interviewing legends etc. In his day he was a king muckraker and (Jacko was absolutely right about this) a VFL/AFL lackey who did what he was told and used his influence to further their interests. He was every bit as despised as Caro and Barrett widely are now.

A good example is Sheahans role in getting rid of Fitzroy, which interestingly Jacko touched on very briefly.

Um Caro's loved now for standing up to the Bombers and afl.
