It's reaching to make such assumptions based on what are basically on stage performances, both on & off the field. You would need to spend time with bloke away from the spotlight to get a sense of what he's really like. There's nothing i've even seen of Jacko to suggest he has lost touch with reality, the opposite in fact as he's making (what I assume) is a decent living off his personality quirks. That suggests a firm grip on where he's at, what works & what doesn't.

You can have mental issues and still function, I would put Jacko in that territory.

As an aside when I was a kid I begun following footy from around 87-88, and I just knew jacko as the energizer guy, I had no idea he even played football until about 1991.

You sometimes see these types in country footy which probably reinforces some of his points about athletics vs Footballers...

Wow, a firm grip on where's he's at? I don't think he let Sheahan in on the act. Warwick Capper has an act, i'm not sure Jacko just switches it on and off as he pleases. Mental illness, like most physical illness, tends to impair the individual’s ability to act, aggressively or in any other way. Only a few such conditions have a significant potential to precipitate a violent act. Jacko's behaviour doesn't necessarily mean it will lead to acts of violence although by his own admission he was prone to do so while playing because "I was taught that way at Richmond'?
I'd say Jacko's psychotic disorder comes under Critical, Quarrelsome (Low Agreeableness) Uncooperative due to emotional turmoil.
Was that really an on stage performance? Was Sheahan in on it? Sheahan denies it and claims he didn't know that was coming.
Delusions: These are false beliefs that someone refuses to give up, even in the face of facts. Is Jacko delusional? Is he suffering Antisocial personality disorder? APD symptoms usually include antisocial behavior in which there is little concern for the rights of others such as indifference to the moral or legal standards of the region or community. He has this incredible bitterness towards the AFL and of course journos such as Mike Sheahan. That's a 30 year long grudge, that's not normal.

He’s a quirky, blunt character who plays it up no-end, because that’s what he’s always done and it’s been his meal ticket. Add in his size and looks and it can become menacing.

Maybe so, but Jacko was sacked by four clubs and none of the sackings were due to performance, he's a bonafide nutjob, it's helped him on the celebrity speaking circuit, but i suspect the politically correct agendas of the 21st century have stifled his income somewhat. He should've listened to "Tiger" Crosswell who had more than his fair share of run ins with Barassi, yet he kept following him around from club to club? I dont know if you could say that about the Geelong one - they had appointed Devine ( from nowhere - Paul Couch is on record as saying JD was hopeless ) - the 2nd game of the year Essendon flogged Geelong by about 100 points - Jacko kicked i think 4 goals ( not a bad effort from a team done by 100 ) after kicking 4 in the 1st game
