Toast Jackson Nelson

Should be in our back 6 on Sunday.

Jacko in. Yeo midfield. Masten out.

Im hoping he takes Hutchings run with midfield role. Get him up the field and around the coal face. Has pace, has size and has mongrel. We are desperate for some harder edged types at the stoppages and he just doesnt have the composure to play deep in defence.

Now that they’ve selected him, they need to play him in the guts, be that as a run with or a straight mid. Keep him away from the backline and just let him smash campaigners in the guts and help us win the contested Footy. Knowing our idiot coaching panel he will get played in defence and get shown up again coz he’s out of form. I hope he plays well wherever he plays.

Nelson will be fine.shuey stuffed up just as much as nelson has recently in that last hit out. It happens

well when you think about it he's a good fit for the midfield
he's got the build and pace
and the bull in a china shop mindset..(when the headless chook doesn't take over)
At least give him the benefit of the doubt in his first game of the season,
let him get on the field first before writing him off..
who knows, he might do some good things.
like a good few players, needs game-time plus plus...
just gotta argy-bargy forward and get a few quality kicks off...(easy!?)

I'm all for Nelson in the team - he's young and developing.

Yes lots of brain farts and poor disposal but he's shown enough glimpses and toughness to persist.

Confidence is the key for young Nelson.

Would rather back in Nelson than play Masten tbh.

I made a huge mistake.
Yes you did.... I'm starting to think he can't be played anymore as he's just a butcher of the highest order and will likely be delisted at season's end. Watching live you just tense when he goes near the ball and you expect bad things to happen. Masten however did seem to do quite a lot right watching him in person but not sure what you miss on TV.

Would rather Cole in his position when he's fit. I still think Nelson can offer something, maybe could be a pressure half forward where he doesn't have to think so much? Worked for Nicoski, although he was a much better kick.

Nicoski was an elite kick with with piss poor decision making, it's what made him so good at HF, his only decision to make was either kick at goal or put it to the top of the square.

Nelson will never kick 41 goals in a season.

From memory he could also get his arms free when tackled.

Yeah but how many end of quarter brawls did Nico start?

I was really hoping Nelson would dob that goal. Would have been just the thing to get his confidence going.

I would use this year to give him 20+ games to see if he is worth persisting with. He has shown before he is capable enough to be a best 22 player. I feel he trys to do too much because the two times he was showing some from in 2015 and 2017 he got injured and missed a fair few weeks and found it hard to break back into the side. They need to sit him and simplify his role. They should use him as a mid or a HFF and just run with the role.

he has his problems but given the lack of grunt and mongrel we have I see him growing into a role - every team needs one

Meh I've said it before but outside of one game last year he's basically been the same player his whole time with us. Clanger prone and a headless chook. I dont care how "tough" he is I would laugh back at him if I were out there because he cant football.

I agree. if we wanted someone "tough" who can dictate to opponents, why not see if Danny Green wants to join? I have no idea if he can kick or mark a footy, but seeing as i know Nelson cant do these things, i really cant see any negatives with signing Danny Green.

I can see the point of an enforcer like Waters or Hodge who actually have some footy smarts but a young fringe player who has no positive impact on the play shouldn't be trying to trash talk anyone and be concentrating on keeping his career.
