some good analysis here, I think I agree that his position/role + successful defense retool + not particularly inspiring form + disadvantage of unseating incumbent (Guthrie) = few chances.
it would be interesting to watch the same videos the coaches see. Does he get to good positions both defensively and offensively when he doesn't have the ball? If he does, is he used by his teammates?
his kicking ability should be utilized more creatively I feel. Lately I've been pondering how we could be the manic pressure that has been smashing us. I think some more set plays would help. I mean we kick to a man who immediately wheels and kicks to a predetermined area where we've already have players set up. Obviously making sure the man on the mark is not too close and just no going back on the mark and waiting for 'play on'. Thurlow should be good for this kind of tactic. On a tangent, also for breaking the pressure we should have our kicking targets working in pairs to also move the ball on quickly via a hand ball immediately after a mark. Ive seen other clubs move the ball well doing something like that. As has been said more teamwork, less individualism.
