Not true....a number of the 17 year olds could quite easily have gone early....Josh Toy would be top 5 for a start. Hine, Shaw and McKenzie would be right up there with good seasons in the TAC, along with May if he chose to nominate for the ND, Matera as well

As I said.. it's a good draft now, would have been exceptional if the likes of Toy & Matera had been available as well..

That doesn't change the fact that it's still a better draft than 2009 or 2008..

even more reason to be dirty on him

why are you all against me for being angry that a bloke that we gave a chance to and dont want to leave is ditching us?

on paper it is very even from about 5-30, but that means you'll still get your fair share of misses too. Strength of the draft shouldn't weigh much into fair value.

Sydney slightly paid unders for Mumford because of the context.....Collingwood, slightly over...that puts Jacobs value around 20-22 in an uncompromised draft. Looking at Blue4flags research on the ruckmen's numbers early in their career that looks more than reasonable.

Pick 28 is a better start....upgrading 18 to 14 probably makes it about on a par with previous trades (you'd still get a good mid at #18, we might be more likely to find a suitable target at #14, or use it as leverage for another trade if that's what the club wants to do).

Because were not a bunch of dicks? If Carlton want/need him so badly he would be playing every game. The reality is, Kreuzer and Warnock are ahead of him. Keeping him on our list is just selfish and if Adelaide are prepared to pay him a million dollars then what's the problem? Suck it up and get over it you sook.

Whatever. Anyway you'll still end up paying the equivalent of around pick 20 for Jacobs, however that's put together. We should do well out of this. And there's still a chance he'll end up at a club other than the Crows BTW. There's a lot more to play out. Your SA co-tenant, and the Saints might still be involved. It'll be an interesting trade week. Other Clubs are bidding for Walker as well.

:)

Why is it better than the 2008 draft which had bottom age players available?

Port's Trengove would probably be rated as highly as Gorringe, Lycett, Lynch and Cook.

Phil Davis would be quicker than Watson and bigger than McCarthy.

I've read that Sam Day is a beast.

Naitanui is on another level altogether as a power tall.

I guess the fan boys on BF have made it a group think that Smith, Pitt, Heppell, Caddy, Gaff and Polec are more talented than Yarran, Sidebottom, Rich, Ziebell, Hartlett and Hill...

jacobs pick 1 in rookie draft? LOL you have zero credibility

2008 had the bottom aged players, but it was considered to be a fairly weak draft. The top end quality was good, but it ran out fairly quickly. Not all drafts are created equal - and this was one of the weaker ones.

Jacobs is still contracted, is he not??

Adelaide don't come up with a sweet enough deal he stays at Carlton, with no option of the PSD.

He has only 'nominated' Adelaide as his club of choice... there is nothing there that says we must trade with Adelaide only. It still leaves the door open to trade with any other club, provided the deal is right and Jacobs isn't too averse to heading somewhere else. Sauce also strikes me as the type of bloke who would want the best outcome for Carlton... he's not a mercenary.

I get the feeling Geelong may be players in the Jacobs trade. Ottens is perennially injured and just about finished... Blake is no good. Jacobs would be a walk-up start and they will have cap room once Gazza is gone.

Maybe I'm the odd Crow poster out, but that trade seems ok. Pick 28 and a first round upgrade for Jacobs.

You missed the point. Was it too subtle? Let me walk you through it again. IF there was a stalemate, and the only prospect was PSD and Richmond (i.e. AFL's hell-hole), you'd find Jacobs would naturally express some interest in StKilda for example, or even Geelong. Not saying it'll happen, but these scenarios will keep the Crows honest in any deal. Your SA co-tenant is watching things play out as well. Don't be surprised if they make a "surprise" bid during trade week. Jacobs would slot in nicely there. Lots to play out yet. Predicting you'll end up coughing up the equivalent of around pick 20 i.e. similar to the Warnock trade.

:)

Jeepers, where did you really come from?? you're a keeper ;):p.

You get to keep a first and second round pick and get a #1 ruckman, not a bad trade week.
