Gold Coast do not have a PSD pick.

Richmond are going to take Grigg.

Melbourne already have 5 senior and 2 rookie ruckmen on the list, 6 guys to get a partner for Jamar from, plus they're after Hale as a forward anyway.

Essendon are really the only uncertainty, but unless Hird sees Ryder as ultimately a KPP Jacobs will still be playing in the VFL anyway.

My mistake, I thought the GC had more rediculous draft concessions than they already did. :p

In regards to Melbourne picking up Jacobs, I suppose it depends on how they rate the leftover kids who didn't get drafted in the ND. But if they want to adopt a 'draft the best available' policy then they'll nab him. Hale will be used as a forward, but remember Jamar is Melbourne's only senior ruckman apart from Johnson who doesn't cut the mustard. Most of their younger ruckman are too raw to be thrown into a ruck tandem with Jamar, and could need more time. Fair enough though, they may pass on him if they're confident in playing their younger brigade all year and sticking with Johnson.

Can't see Essendon passing him up. Whilst Ryder and Hille are a dynamic combo, Essendon were exposed last year when Hille went down, and this year again when Ryder had to shoulder the ruck on his own. If either one of these players go down they're exposed majorly. Drafting Jacobs gives them greater flexibility and depth, and allows Ryder to play as a sweeping HBF'er and Hille up forward.

Don't forget WC either. With an ailing Cox as their only real 'ruckman' on their list, apart from a very raw Naitanui, they'd be the ones most likely to take him on and they'd have first dibs. Available cap room is one major unknown.

The following is a rumour and i know there is a board for that but thought since i was here I'd just let fly:

My mates source ( who gave us the judd info 2 weeks early and won me 4 slabs ) just said everything has gone quiet on Brennan and GC because he has nominated Carlton( which is why GC said they would more then likley not be active in trade week no matter what is reported about 2.4M offers and also why Ratten said at the Brownlow his goal for trade week was to get some one who could go forward and back if needed), Carlton are trying to get 2 low to mid first rounds through jacobs and Walker Example: 14 and 16 so they can on trade to Brisbane and that the blues are hoping to walk away from trade week with Brennan and a low second round and of course our later trades.

I have never met him but he always seems to be in the know, I was hoping we could keep 18 but some how think this will be used in securing the lower picks.
It all sounds good and not beyond the realms of possibility except for the two first round picks for Brennan. The club would never do it. One first rounder max.

Apparently Brisbane would not Deal with GC because they rate Brennan as a marqee in QLD and felt he may take supporters with him if he got to the GC.

There is still no way we would give up two first rounders for Brennan, a guy who didn't even make the Brisbane rabble's top 10 in the B&F this year. One first rounder max.

Gee so the Blues dont get Brennan neither, what's going to be left for the Blues to land and use all this so called cash we have to splash??????
Just keep front loading our players contracts, we'll have even more cash next year or the year after when a player does become available.

14 & 16 are more like 22 and 24 this year so i can see why we would IMo

look the simple fact here is carlton can play hardball as much as they want in the jacobs deal but he is uncontracted, wants to return home and has nominated a club.

They will not recieve pick 14 get over it unless they can think of a different deal you will lose him to the pre season draft for nothing making ratten look like a idiot for playing hardball in a trade in which they hold no bargining power.

Your club just got completely bent over trading for Tambling of all people :o

I wouldn't be too confident in them if I were you.

You aren't the only club requiring his services ergo bargaining power. The "go home" factor is much over valued in this case

When you say "that's just rumour and innuendo doing circles" do you mean you left head tells your right head and the they both giggle in unicen??

lol whats that? dont they make phones and radios? hahaha

I don't think Carlton would have an issue with sending Jacobs to the pre-season draft if it isn't able to receive what it deems to be fair compensation. Why should we sit back whilst other clubs poach our players with big money contracts and let them take these guys for no return. Otherwise it isn't trading, it's stealing. The Crows can sweat over whether they can get him or not in the PSD if they aren't willing to give something to get something. The Bock compensation pick would have been fair but you spent it on that dud Tambling whose value should pale in comparison to Jacobs.

this tambling trade has really put the cat amongst the pigeons :)

there are 2 ways carlton can play this & will be interesting how they will go,if they decide to play hardball & send jacobs into the psd (provided he does decide to nominate & not accept another club)

there is really only 1 club that will take jacobs & thats richmond.

Richmond no doubt will take him & have loads of room in the cap, they wouldnt of done a gentlemans agreement because draft tampering wont be risked.

westcoast wont be intrested they have 2 very good rucks in nicnat & cox cant play all three rucks, they would be looking more at a developeing ruckman with either later picks or rookie pick & usually stay clear of players that domt want to come to their club.

melbourne look like they are hell bent with going for hale & jamar due to the new rules coming in and also have gawn & fitzty as developing rucks

brisbane again are choker block full of rucks & good rucks with clark, luenberger, charman, and mcculloch & mc cauley , mckeever as a rookies also brisbane are trying to shed salary cap pressure so impossible.

essendon, again have starting ruck options with hille ryder & bellchambers at a similar stage as jacobs & cristian bock as developing rookie also cale hooker can also play the mobile ruck role like he did this season whilst hille was injured..... will be looking for another junior ruck.

so jacobs could well fall through to the crows if he enters the psd provided he gets past the tigers wo realisticaly are the only likely team to select jacobs.

so that really puts carlton in a situation where the psd needs to become a threat & the only way they can do this is to make sure that he is in the tigers sights & for the crows to know this......... meaning

resolve the grigg situation, either offer him the $$$ and game time & try to intice him into staying or do a deal with richmond to create the threat
richmond will be selecting upto 6 players in the nd & i psd so will not be looking to trade picks in the first 3 rounds which leaves the later picks.

so carlton could end up cutting its losses with grigg to be able to get the top pick in exchange for jacobs.

Mate, if you think neither WCE or Essendon will take Jacobs you're kidding yourself. These are the 2 clubs that would most likely snap him up before the Crows even had a chance of thinking about taking him. The PSD presents no threat whatsoever to us, meaning that the Crows don't have the upper hand. If a deal doesn't get done the Crows will lose the chance at a promising up-and-coming ruckman, whilst we send a firm message that we will not be bent over and forced to give up players for less than what they're worth.

Refer to what I wrote a couple of pages back:

In regards to Melbourne picking up Jacobs, I suppose it depends on how they rate the leftover kids who didn't get drafted in the ND. Man I'm getting tired of all these opposition supporters coming onto our board and then talking up all their players when really they're nowhere near as "untouchable" as they make out.

Reminds me of this ladder salesman:
