have heard a rumour that we are keen on sellar which made me sick tbh i would love for us to nick Talia which may have been made easier wuth the emergance of phil davis. second for mine would be mckernan (how ever you spell it) both these deals would possibly have to be sweatened but those should be our prime targets

we should have picke Talia in last years draft....

Dude, it's parrot...don't even bother.

Surely the fact that they've announced this prior to trade week means that the framework of a deal is already in place? Why would we undermine our bargaining position otherwise?
Thread summed up by post 9.

Both parties will come to a amicable deal.

We have no intentions in trying to get Sauce through the PSD and a deal will be done so we can move onto Walker.

You'll have parties on both sides crying sour on BF, some jumping for joy, but I believe the sides have got the main stuff down.

Jeez, It should be remembered that Jacobs was just a rookie, anything could happen if we take to the draft with the right mindset. Sellar and a mid second-rounder would not be the end of the world. It's not like we can take four ruckmen into each game with us. We effectively lose good players every time we trade away draft picks, and pick 26 is three times as good as a first round rookie. What goes around, comes around, if that's what we get, it's up to us to make it work for us.

de Bono rang, wants his logic back.

General consensus is that Carlton posters are very disappointed to lose Jacobs whereas it seems that Adelaide posters are not unhappy to see Sellars go - which is probably an indicator of the relative value of both players.

If Sellars is useless, then trading Jacobs for Sellar and the Bock compo (pick 28) is not really that great. Maybe Port Adelaide can jump in and offer us something better and satisfy Jacobs as well - now that would make it interesting.

That's spot on. I have no doubt that a deal has most likely been worked out already

Already re-signed.

I think youre underestimating Sellar.

True, he's probably worth two traffic cones.

play the ball mate , not the man.

The ball says that Jacobs now is way better than Warnock when he traded for him, therefore is Warnock is worth 24, then Jacobs is worth more. Furthermore Carlton supporters were not upset at trading 24 for Warnock. If you remember, Freo supporters were asking for a first rounder for him.

Predictably, you answered with deflection. He's averaged better stats across the season than Maric has, even when you omit the Sydney game. How's he unproven?

how many games has he played? If he was a proven ruck surely you would want a 1st round pick thats the going price for them.

As posted on my home board.

Ahem....

Cant we all agree we hope Collingwood get smashed this weekend:thumbsu:

Trade week will sort itself out

Can't touch this. :thumbsu:

Correct. The situation now is very similar to that trade actually i.e. an uncontracted ruck, with the destination team having no hope of getting him if he went into the PSD. If we offered Freo a 3rd round pick, they would have sent him to the PSD, but a 24 pick was just too high and they folded about 5 minutes out from the deadline. Reckon around 20ish pick is about right however that's put together. Like Freo we do have some leverage in this trade i.e. the PSD threat. It won't come to that, but it'll keep the Crows honest.

Im shattered, Hampson should be traded and Jacobs should have played every game this year. He's a gun who's gona come back to bite us.

I think the Elimination Final showed that Carlton rate Jacobs ahead of Hampson at the moment. Anyway, it's not Hampson that is the problem, it's Warnock. Sauce knows he's behind Warnock and Kreuzer for the near future, and unfortunately has chosen to leave.

I thought we gave way over what Warnock was worth, and have only changed my mind in the last few games of this season. Trading two picks for a guy who was drafted in the third round and had shown nothing except height at AFL level was a huge risk. Luckily, it seems to be working out now.

The 2009 trade week should be the best indicator for Sauce's worth.

#14 > Jolly
#28 > Mumford
#22 > Seaby

Jolly was obviously an All Australian calibre ruckman, Mumford an up-and-comer and #22 was way too much for Seaby. If you look at the three players, Mumford is the closest to Jacobs' situation. Hindsight tells us that #28 was incredibly cheap for Mumford, but I think big Mummy is a better footballer than Jacobs, fairly comfortably too.

In the end, I'd be happy with the Bock pick + a fourth rounder. I know some people won't rate a fourth round draft pick, but you can never have too many picks. Not really interested in James Sellar, though he is friends with Mark Austin and Bryce Gibbs, which may help him acclimitise to Melbourne.

sellar has really only started to put it all together in the last year or so he would be a good get for you guys.

If he's really putting it together why are you so willing to get rid of him?

Admit it he is a shithouse footballer and if we accept him for Jacobs and pick 28 then my faith in our recruiting department will be completely shot.

I reckon the deal will go something like Jacobs and our third or second rounder for your first and third rounder.

Pick 14 is right on the money here, anything worse than that and we will be getting reamed. Adelaide are obviously very interested in this talented young ruckmen so much so that they have had him over there and convinced him to turn his back on the club that gave him a chance so if your that into him then pay up what he is worth and we will all move on. Any trade speculation involving Sellar is just ludicrous.

Can't remember us ever trading with this little SA regional club before. They'd be wise not to stuff us around, or we will play hardball. Jacob's is a 15 to 20 pick quality. No doubt there's been unofficial negotiations already. If they get silly, he'll go to the PSD for the Tiges. Easy.

:)

This guy is a troll, right?

Fair eough Jacobs wants to go home for more game time, but I don't see the point in trading for Sellars if he is just another ruckman we can add to our ever expanding ruck division. Shouldn't we be asking for a lot more out of this deal?
