not if they want walker to be traded to them they don`t !!! he is still contracted to carlton and can only leave if a deal is struck !!!
As far as the Jacobs trade goes Adelaide has the upper hand. He is uncontracted and has declared he wants to play with Adelaide. They can just offer pick 28 and a junk player and what option has Carlton really got, the threat of losing Jacobs in the PSD - yeah sure as if thats going to happen.

It then depends how serious Adelaide are in Walker and whether a player of his quality is really worth chasing with 1 year to go on their contract? Adelaide may just end up being content to secure Jacobs if we demand too much for AW and look for some other disgruntled midfielder preferably out of contract. If I were Adelaide I'd be chasing someone like Grigg rather than Walker.

why can`t people see that adelaide will do an ok deal with carlton, because they actually want jacobs and would miss out on him in the pre-season draft !!! it does`nt make sense to upset carlton and then try to get walker.........does it ??????????????? they have stated that those two guys are on their wanted list, so what is the point of them offering carlton rubbish in their negotiations..............the crows would end up with a big fat nothing !!!!!!!!! carlton won`t be stupid about these deals, because it is their best chance to improve their list before the draft. it could also add to their picks in the draft. nuff said!!!

Wow just chill out

As for Walker, the Bulldogs are interested as well ..........

Western Bulldogs chase Blues star Andrew Walker

WESTERN Bulldogs have emerged as challengers to Adelaide in the race for Carlton defender Andrew Walker.

Walker, 24, is contracted to Carlton but the Blues have given the former No. 2 draft pick permission to speak to the Bulldogs.

There seems almost no chance Walker will stay at Carlton. The Crows are prepared to give up a player for him, but have knocked back a Blues request for last year's first-round pick Daniel Talia.

BTW the deal also involes us giving a 2nd rounder for their third rounder.

This is the classic 'quantity = quality' Bigfooty trade.

1st round pick = A grade trade bait.
Uncontracted Jacobs with choice of clubs nominated = B grade trade bait.
2nd round pick = B grade trade bait.
3rd round pick = C grade trade bait.

Two B grade =/= A grade + C grade. Quantity =/= quality.

Jacobs doesn't get to Adelaide unless we agree to trade him.

If we don't rate their second round pick and Sellar, then we'll walk on principle.

Adelaide doesn't hold all the cards here.

Sorry Crows fans.

We don't hold ALL the cards, we would only hold all the cards if we had the 1st pick of the PSD

But we have a nice hand.

Carlton obviously rates Sellar enough to get him over for a medical. That should be evidence in itself that he will probably form some part of the deal.

Carlton won't walk on principal, as Adelaide will offer a decent enough trade to get it done.

Can't agree with you here TG. We will not give up Jacobs for zip.

We have more to lose than Adelaide if Jacobs goes for nothing.

the crows have already spoken to walker, so they want him alright. time will tell about all this, but if carlton get spanked over these deals i will be very suprised !!! swan/icke are not stupid, as they have already shown !!! have some faith in their ability to land something good for the club !!! mind you,not everyone will like the outcome. they never do!!!

Loving these double sided equations you're throwing around....Especially the one in your sig that say Tredrea is less than a potato and Hendo :thumbsu:

WRONG.

Top 5 pick = A+ grade trade bait
Top 10 pick = A grade trade bait.
Pick 11-16 = B+ trade bait.

Hence,

Pick 14 = B+ trade bait (Especially in a thin draft)
Uncontracted Jacobs with the hope of trading for contracted Walker = B+ trade bait.

Therefore,

B(our second rounder) + B+(Jacobs) ~= C(third rounder) + B+(Pick 14)

Yes that is true. What Carlton needs to do is introduce an undefined variable - eg. say a second SA club who would be interested in Jacobs. Then we could have:

Uncontracted Jacobs with more than 1 club interested >= B+ grade trade bait.

Don't forget they are interested in grabbing Walker as well and he is contracted, so if they don't play nice with the Jacobs deal, they won't be getting Walker either! :D

If the 26 year old Hale is worth pick 31 or thereabouts to Hawthorn or Melbourne, then we will stand firm on Jacobs who is yet to turn 23. Adding a former first round pick to the pot doesn't bump up the value of Adelaide's second round pick. A draft pick which is just a couple of places higher than our second round selection.

Crows are being tight.

In the article about Walker and the Bulldogs it was said ratten wants experienced players, whats going to change with Jacobs and Walker if we are either trading with Adelaide or anyone? While i agree picks will have to come into it somewhere just talking picks for Sauce is not on, personally it seems that wether we like it or not Sellars is going to be part of the Deal.

Can't remember us ever trading with this little SA regional club before. They'd be wise not to stuff us around, or we will play hardball. Jacob's is a 15 to 20 pick quality. No doubt there's been unofficial negotiations already. If they get silly, he'll go to the PSD for the Tiges. Easy.

:)

Parrot, Gallagher and Eccles send there regards as does Kris Massie.

Who says we are "really" interested.

Jacobs has come out and said he wants to play for Adelaide, not Adelaide has come out and says we want Jacobs.

Sam Jacobs hears big-money Crow call

CARLTON ruckman Sam Jacobs shapes as the Shane Mumford of trade week, lured by Adelaide on a three-year $1 million deal.

Jacobs would likely be Carlton's fourth ruckman again next year, but has been promised he would lead Adelaide's ruck department.

The Crows say he would lead their ruck department ahead of Ivan Maric, with back-up ruckman Jonathan Griffen set to return to Perth.

But it's not as black and white as that. Look, I doubt it'll get to that point, but you just have to draw a line in the sand with these out-of-contract trade negotiations, otherwise you'll get a worthless late pick, and be shown to be weak.

The Port/Collingwood/Stevens situation was a bit different. In that case the Clubs basically hated each other with a passion. Eddie and Williams were having a feud at the time, and the Pies negotiators just don't know how to negotiate. I still don't think Port regret not getting compensation from the Pies, because they just hated Collingwood so much.

We don't have any such history with this SA Crows Football Club. Hopefully something reasonable will be offered, but we should walk away from something silly like a late 2nd round/3rd round pick.

:)

**** YOU ARE A TOOL!!!

see if you can wok out why,

When has Big Footy been neutral towards Carlton and our players?

If Walker was a dud like a few of the tools have posted in that discussion, then Adelaide and the Dogs wouldn't be chasing him. Nothing is as moronic as Glenno23's suggestion that Adelaide hasn't been in Jacobs' ear. The Crows have obviously offered Jacobs a heap of coin and the chance to be the number one ruck to leave Carlton.

I've never said he was a dud, but that doesn't make him worth a first rounder.

If the Dogs are hard into him though, it changes everything.

sellar has really only started to put it all together in the last year or so he would be a good get for you guys.

Seller???? Please

The threat of psd is a powerful tool. IF Jacobs wants to end up at Richmond, The crows will offer us shit............I think Jacobs could be talked into staying if it came to that, Richmond = Career death sentence.

Herald Sun () state that Carlton want pick 14 from Adelaide for Jacobs.

We would then use this pick to land Jarred Brennen... Would of hoped we would keep 14 to try and land Matthew Watson in the draft.

+1

Brennan is asking for WAY too much $$$$$, and if the Lions don't want to trade with the GC17 because they are bitter about Riska, and we get #14, then they can have #18 for him AT BEST.
