Many teams could have drafted Ball last year, but they didnt. Why do you think? Essendon was hot for him but he refused to speak to them, they passed on him twice before the Pies picked him? Why do you think? Because what refusing to be interviewed by Essendon told them is that perhaps if they drafted him he would exercise his right to stand out of football such was his determination to get to the pies. No club, repeat slowly so you understand it, no club will risk wasting a pick on a player that does not want to be there and may well stand out of football to make that point so what exactly is it that you are arguing? That we live in a democracy?
That choice is not interfered with.

You just don't have a clue.

That's where you are completely wrong. He was an injury probe player who refused to sign with his club, no professional sporting club would risk drafting such a player, especially with the salary he was demanding, without interviewing him first. Watching them play is not the only thing you base drafting them on, I think Fevola and Akermanis are better examples than your choice of Goddard![]()
How can that be completely wrong. You're kidding. The whole world knew of Ball's problems. Everyone knows what they're getting with Fev, Aker etc.. on and off the field. They'd have plenty to go on if they wanted them.
Anyway, the fact his he DOES NOT have to talk anyone if he doesn't want to. You cannot be forced to talk to anyone in this world. That's the crux here of the original argument. In any organisation wanting you, to use you argument, you can talk to who you want and ingore anyone you want\. Why should they be forced? As long as they have that then the AFL are happy that no interfering is going on. Why would you want to go to WA for example to talk to a club you weren't interested in. Surely you can see that.
Besides, the Club can tell the player they're picking them up up by hook or by crook too. In that case I bet the player would talk to them as they'll want to know the environment they're going to. It can work both ways. So clubs still have a choice of drafting them.
I'm not saying they lied,I'm saying that the news could have got it wrong which believe it or not is a possibility.
LOL is that all you can say now? Of course it relates to what I was saying, I said that first rounders aren't guaranteed stars and then I gave a few examples off the top of my head of clubs that traded first rounders for players. Do you really think Brisbane would have given up pick 12 and Henderson if they KNEW that pick 12 was going to be a star? Of course not! why would they trade a 10 year plus star for a guy who only has a couple of years left?
You just don't have a clue.

If a player steps onto that ground they are presumed to be fit. No excuse.
Did or or did he not absolutely smack Mumford?
Mumford had a good game the following week against the Bulldogs anyway, can't have been too injured. The injury excuse is just convenient for Crows supporters.
And you do???
If you're offering a million for 3 years, YOUR TEAM wants him. They obviously rate him. You want him, you pay.
I'm not saying they lied,I'm saying that the news could have got it wrong which believe it or not is a possibility.
Roos got it wrong?!

Voss is not a smart coach. Nobody thought he made a smart move.

Very unlikely.
...Voss is not a smart coach. Nobody thought he made a smart move.....

Amazing, trying to deny his injury now.
Paul Roos, such a liar!
Oh really? All the media, and the entire non-Carlton supporter group, thought Vossy's trading was a masterstroke at the time.
Rendell's approach to this trade is starting to remind me a lot of Vossy actually. Surely we couldn't be that lucky 2 years in a row. Given we've got pick 14 now, the real interest will be if we can skew the swaps in our favour. Love trading with the regional clubs because we always win.

....You haven't got pick 14. Sorry, mate....

Very unlikely.
Pick 14 sounds like a formality. Rendell had a chance to reject the Blues pick 14 demands on the weekend, but instead said the Blues demands were "fair". It's gone, no point denying it. You should be focusing your attention on the swaps now. Looks like the Compo pick is off to the Tiges for Tambling as well. We love trading with the regional teams. You're always so generous.

Tanks_Alot said:But you were so adamant that I had no clue about how trading works, now that's all you've got to say?
Funny how you've changed your tune from no way to very unlikely. Quit while you're behind you fool.
Working in spin, you should learn that saying nothing does not mean something.
Carlton have never said pick 14 was their demand - therefore how do you know what is fair?
You're being a silly girl. A silly girl. But you'll get there.
Changed my tune? I've always said it's very unlikely. You won't get pick 14, not for just Jacobs anyway.
But keep crying and screaming.
With the new rules announced today, Jacobs's lack of tank means his value is reduced even further. Maybe pick 33?
Are you still hanging around Apprentice, 'void' of any sense...barking mad ramblings of a compelte lunatic....

I put that attention seeker on my ignore list, like 4 days ago.
But you people keep quoting DevoidOfIdeas.![]()

You seem to be avoiding this one SurfingTheButtholeWhat did Paul Roos say about it?
Why was he able to play such a good game the week after we played them if he was injured?
...Carlton have never said pick 14 was their demand ...

Changed my tune? I've always said it's very unlikely.
You won't get pick 14, not for just Jacobs anyway.

What planet are you on? Swan's said it 3-4 times (last time was on SEN Friday around 10:30), Icke's said it about 2 times, Ratten once, and it's been reported in every major Victorian newspaper. And Rendell refused to rule in out on the weekend and said the Blues were "fair". Anyway, don't sweat it. We'll use pick 14 well and you'll get a massive ruck upgrade.

Yeah! "Won't" means "very unlikely" now doesn't it?
BTW, I haven't said we'll get pick 14 in a straight swap, I've always said I think the deal could be pick 14 and your third rounder for Jacobs and our second rounder. But hey if what I think is getting to you so much stop quoting me. After all it's only my opinion I just didn't realise that it had the power to upset you so much. Powerful thing.
Are you still hanging around Apprentice, 'void' of any sense...barking mad ramblings of a compelte lunatic....

The only one who has been upset is you, "I know you are but what am I" is pretty immature, kiddo!
But you won't get a silly deal like that either - it'd be more like pick 14 and Bock pick for Walker, Jacobs and your pick 18.
