I think Swann & Icke need to be realistic about the Jacobs Trade, theyu ain't going to get pick 14.
It would be very dissapoiting to lose him for nothing
I say lets swap picks with the Crows, which upgardes us four places and they can also give us the their second round pick, that is fair for all involved

Pick 14 is about fair- they need a ruckman desperately. Ruckmen are different beasts to midfielders etc...

it is a lot harder to get a good ruckman than a half decent midfielder. Jacobs has been groomed over 3 years and is now a great ruckman.

What about Port - Brogan is over the hill..surely they would be in the market for a quality ruckman. Give him to Port for their first round pick - what is it pick 17? or something..

Pick 14 or nothing!

I back Swanny in the mexican stand off

With the offer put forward... Pick 14 you can safely say is out of the picture....

The only way Pick 14 will be brought back into frame is if a Port/Cats/Saints offer their first rounder and Adelaide rate Jacobs highly enough to out bid them... but I have a feeling Adelaide are going into this trade will picking Jacobs as a good result... not a must result

Not at all. Think about other things Swann and Icke have been told. It was picks 1 & 3 for Judd or no deal, Warnock would go to the PSD if they didn't offer more than a 2nd round pick and we would never get fair compensation for Fevola because we had no bargaining power. These guys get what they want. They might have to throw in some steak knives but they are the best at this in the business and are dealing with relative amateurs as far as trade experience goes.

Not that I really believe anything that comes out of Petroro's mouth but did he say what was coming back to us?
I wasn't listening... just twitter update...

here's another

"The Brisbane Lions will make a major announcement surrounding the Club review process at 2:45pm today" .

I know it has nothing to do with the Jacobs thread... but could Fev be in trouble here

Maybe we should have a twitter trade period thread for all post that have talking points behind them

regarding same subject

However, Adelaide's interest in completing a deal for Tambling was held up by a stalemate in talks with Carlton over ruckman Sam Jacobs.

The Herald Sun reports the Blues want the Crows' compensation pick, which falls at the end of the first round, but the Crows prefer a swap of their No.14 pick for Carlton's No.18. A straight exchange of Jacobs for Adelaide's second-round pick was rejected.

Jacobs + our first round pick for their first round pick? Am I reading this wrong due to a lack of coffee? If not, get a grip losers.

They're just making stuff up because it didn't go the way they said it would yesterday. Take more notice of what Icke says.

He said a few clubs had shown interest in Jacobs and former No.2 draft pick Andrew Walker, but reiterated that the Blues had yet to receive any real offers.

Nothing happens on the first day but the journalists still have to write something.

Yeah it is a bloody joke mate. Jacobs for an extra 4 spots in the draft

Would be content in getting the Bock Compo pick, but with Walker's manager stating that both Jacobs and Walker might both go, it looks like we'll get pick 14 and a player as a result of it :thumbsu:

As long as that player is not Sellar, I'm Happy

While I still think there is a lot of overvaluing going on here. A second rounder for Sauce is insulting. Seaby, a much worse ruckman with a lot less time left got pick 22 last year. Mumford who lacked continuity and hadn't shown a ton of form got pick 28. Pick 34 is just plain rude. Put the Bock Compensation pick on the table and a swap i'd second rounders and I'd take it

I don't really understand this arrogant attitude from Carlton. Lets say you hold your ground and Jacobs goes into the PSD. Do you think you would ever be able to deal with the Crows again should the shoe be on the other foot, and you were after a Crows player. You would be destroying any hope of trading with the Crows for the foreseeable future.

I would think a more pragmatic and mature approach would benefit all parties involved, no?

How many more times does BlueInBlood need to come on and say he won't go to the PSD before you guys get it through your heads?

If you guys stuff this trade up after committing to Jacobs in such a big way and publicly stating how good it is to see someone want to play in SA for once you really ruin your name as far as future deals go.

On the other hand, we will show we will not be held to ransom.

The deal will be done, probably not till next Monday when everyon is sick of grandstanding and a compromise will be reached.

Our trade rep is not on the line over this. Look at our history and see that we have always been more than fair. One trade failure won't change that.

All parties except Carlton, you mean?
Jacobs is worth more than a 30 odd. It is that simple.

Holding out for Henderson and Pick 12 worked for us last year.
We are being very pragmatic

You obviously don't get it. This is not a one off trade week, there will be another one next year and the year after. Is it worth throwing away the possibility of ever trading with the Crows again, just to look tough. In addition, I would think players would become more reluctant to move to Carlton in the future if you treat them like cattle. Just my opinion though.
