The Sunday Times have written an article today saying WA will be approaching Jacques Kallis to come and play for WA next summer.

The report states that Kallis is having personal problems at home and would be happy to continue playing cricket outside of South Africa as he could still make up to $250,000 playing for WA and English county side Glamorgan.

He's only 27, has an average of 50.40 in test matches, 43.22 in one dayers and has taken 137 wickets in 66 test matches.

Would be a huge dent to South African cricket if he does make the move, following the retirement of Alan Donald, Jonty Rhodes in the one day game along with suggestions that Gary Kirsten will follow.

South African cricket is falling apart. Just look around the net and its funny what you read:

- Lance Klusener talking about giving cricket away
- Pat Symcox stands down
- Allan Donald retires
- Bob Woolmer says South African cricket is in dire trouble
- the UCB considering restructuring their domestic season
- Pollock is ducking the bullets from various corners
- reports now that Pollock was wrong in suggesting that they miscalculated the winning score (so why were they eliminated?)

I tell you, it's hard being the number one test team in the world.

after looking around, i have the answer to why apparently there was no miscalculation in what score had to be achieved by the Proteas:

Simons defended his team's actions: ''We did not want to chase the Duckworth/Lewis-method, but rather the target of 269.

''If we had tried desperately to hit 13 or 14 runs in an over to reach the Duckworth/Lewis-target, and it did not start raining, we could have been in trouble.

That was the problem! They hit 13 runs. They needed 14! :D

Why wouldn't he want to play in the premier cricket competition in the world? I'm a Redback fan but I'd love to see Kallis here in Australia, even if it is for WA.

I'd like to see the Pura Cup expand to include a number of international teams, maybe a North Island and a South Island team from NZ, a couple of South African domestic clubs ... almost like a cricket Super 12's comp.

Could even do it with the IMG as well.

Maybe even the likes of Kenya could get involved.

That's the best suggestion i've heard for a while. Perhaps even if it is only a knockout competition similar in style to the FA Cup or you could even draw the teams into groups like the European Champions League. If you used the cup system you could have all domestic sides from Aus, NZ and Sth. Afr and maybe some Zimbabwean and Kenyan domestic teams to make up the numbers.

Haha, so much for that. Has been totally dismissed by Kallis himself. Went along the lines of "I have no idea where this has all come from."

Don't worry Kallis, just hallucinating West Aussies - heat must be getting the better of them ...

Want to know something funnier? Brad Hardie on radio tonight reckons the story is true, but they got the player wrong! WA were apparently chasing Dippenar.
